GOPers Boycotting Mystic River
I'm so furious with this GOP email advocating the punishment anyone who opposes Bush. I have to respond to this one!
---------------------

"Mystic River, the new movie being released this Wednesday is starring Sean Penn and Tim Robbins who have been known to spew hate speech against our current President, assaulting his character for doing what he is attempting to do with the war on terror, to protect Americans from further attack. Which has been very successful so far. These 2 liberal actors have sided with Saddam Hussain and Osama Bin Laden and against our own country, as demonstrated by Penn's going to Iraq prior to the war in protest of our pending attack to remove the terrorist regime of Saddam Hussain, saying that we have no right to attack innocent people and that it was the Bush administration that is starting this war.

Let us not forget 9/11/2001. We have no way to let the liberals in Hollywood know that they are just actors .... and not representative of mainstream America. But if each one of us routes this note to all of our friends who support our troops and the administration, and make sure that they do not go to this movie, that is a start .. Encourage all you know ...... not to go to it.

By doing this ..... these actors won't be able to get a job. Look what it did for Alec Baldwin's career! He's a washed up actor that watches his mouth these days.

We have 2 days until this movie starts. Let the boycott begin. Route this to every loyal patriotic person you know and stay away from this movie with these anti-American activists. These are 2 very outspoken hate ministers and we can make a difference."

1. Not to worry
The sort of people to which this missive appeals aren't likely to go and see the movie anyway. Let them have their Bruce Willis movies, same as it's ever been.

2. Jeez. Let 'em.
Tempest in a bloody teacup, if you ask me. If they want to filter out every piece of art that tangentally involves people who oppose Bush, they'll be left with nothing but reruns of "Walker: Texas Ranger."

Their loss.

25. Helpful site!
The names of 114 artists who have "betrayed" the country. "A Public Apology and Denunciation of their Statements is Required to be considered for removal from the list." Mystic River was listed for October, and of course, CBS, but there are some new ones listed for November. So now for me, ELF is a must-see movie! :)

7. gop
These people are truly sick. They consider themselves the army of morality. I wonder if the ghost of Oliver Cromwell visits them daily.

8. If you recall, the villification of Jane Fonda, which still goes on today,
never adversly affected her acting career in a serious way. People flocked to her movies because they could be sure of good entertainment. A good flick will almost always trump political ideology when it comes to entertainment.

10. To hell with that.
I don't think most Americans want smug, moralizing poseurs telling them what they can and can't watch at the movies. Nobody likes that kind of crap....you saw it when Clinton's popularity stayed sky high during impeachment.

The Republicans will screw themselves with these kinds of tactics. Denounce them, and let them scream it from the rooftops that people shouldn't watch "that kind of movie". Americans, very concerned with individual freedoms, will tell them to stick it.

11. Cry wolf baby
This will turn on them quickly when people say, "Hey I like that movie star... what's with those Conservative wackos."

The Cons can go have macho fantasies about Arnold groping.

The film's director is Clint Eastwood, and he's a republican, I believe. These folks are plain silly.

23. Speaking of the Chicks
at least they stood up to it and have been seen recently, doing the same thing if only a bit more subtly. What have Tim Robbins and Sean Penn been doing besides making Mystic River? Where's Martin Sheen besides on The West Wing? Where's Susan Sarandon? Did I miss something, or have they all shut up?

when they find that in particular Sean Penn will probably get an Academy Award nomination...possibly Robbins as well...

They have hated Tim Robbins ever since Bob Roberts...

Don't they know this now puts "Mystic River" at the top of my list of movies to see? I don't go to many movies, but will try to make it to this one, or it least by the DVD when it comes out.:hi:

19. Saddam Hussein, not Hussain
Little-used alternative spelling is Hussain. You would think they would know the spelling of their current number 1 "terrorist," after Osama bush forgot'im

As for Alec Baldwin, he's been washed up for a long, long time. "Watches his mouth"?? What kind of crap is that?

20. ah hell, they wouldn't go to this movie anyway, would they?
I wouldn't worry about it. It's like some yahoo claiming he's boycotting "SOlaris" because of George CLooney. Yeah, right, like he would have gone to see "Solaris" in the first place. They're cute when they try to pretend to be intellectuals making some great sacrifice for their beliefs, but I'm sure my parrot gets more out of film than the typical wingnut does.

26. Saw The Movie Yesterday

It's absolutely brilliant. It ought to get Best Picture, Eastwood ought to get another Best Director award, and if Sean Penn doesn't take Best Actor, there is even less justice in the world than I imagine.

The conservative mouth-breathers trying to organize a boycott against the movie aren't going to do much damage. Screw 'em......
