Fighting big media - 1600 attend conference in Madison

http://www.madison.com/captimes/news/stories/60836.php

As hundreds of activists gathered in Madison for the first day of the National Conference of Media Reform, the message was clear: Nothing less than the future of democracy is at stake if the concentration of media outlets continues unchecked.

"I don't think there's a more important meeting taking place in America today," Michael Copps, a Federal Communications Commission member, told a packed audience in the Wisconsin Historical Society auditorium gathered to hear about the fight to overturn a recent ruling by the FCC relaxing media ownership rules.

The crowd was so large, many could not fit in the Wisconsin Memorial Union's Great Hall for the opening session and welcome by Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton.

-snip-

"The whole media is self-censoring," he said. "When there is money and power behind these decisions, you don't need a police state."
-----------------------------

the treasonous media is not reporting this meeting (only the local paper) let's spread the news.

1. I remember seeing the announcements about this a while back
Michael Copps is da MAN.

Here's another snip from the article:

Copps later that night got a standing ovation as he revved up the crowd at the Orpheum Theatre before the kickoff for the "Tell Us the Truth" tour, a musical collaboration that will travel to 12 other cities to raise awareness about issues of media consolidation and globalization.

musical collaboration??
