A plan to get out of Iraq...We'll use the CA Recall... |
|
Take the last pre-Saddam Iraqi Constitution and have a yes or no vote on if it. Anyone over 40 will remember it and be able to argue its merits.
Anyone with the Iraqi equivalent of $3,500 and 10 signatures or 10,000 signatures can run for government.
Three months later you hold UN-monitored elections.
At least it's the start of a plan...
Other thoughts:
-The vote would probably be a referendum on the US presence in their country.
-Other top vote getters could fill out the other top positions in the new government or be a new constitutional assembly.
-We can say we got democracy in Iraq, pull-out and finally say Mission Accomplished.

1. Pardon me, but I don't look to the California recall, as an example of |
|
what to do anywhere. Do you think the results of the California recall are good.

2. As a voter in that election... |
|
I am disappointed with the results. What I'm talking about is a process most everyone knows and it worked fast.
Also, bugs are usaully addressed in version 1.2, and 'publicans might wonder why they didn't think of it first...
Apart from an attempt at irony, it's more of a plan than the White House has...
