Question about former v.p.'s |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-09-03 03:27 PM by quinnox
I just watched Gore's stirring speech, and I noticed in the aftermath it appears there was some secret service types around him at a distance. Do all the former v.p.'s get this protection?

Unlike former Presidents, former Vice Presidents do not receive Secret Service protection.
Presidential candidates do, though... so if Gore knows what's good for him, he'll jump into the campaign (jk).

2. Good Question, Quinnox |
|
Anybody know who is protecting Gore? They sure looked Secret Service today, but they could be paid-for rent-a-cops. I'm curious.

All do get SS protection immediately after their term of office, and the SS makes the determination for how long that continues; the former VP may choose terminate the protection, as can a former President, which is what Truman did later in life.
