We must answer the call to arms----apathy is not what we can afford NOW
I finished watching Al Gore on C-span and I'm still crying. This is such a clear contrast between what happened and what we could have had happen. We could have had peace, international cooperation, renewable energy policies, and our civil rights would be solvent.....

And now, we have a blatantly, corrupt Republican administration headed by Bush, who does not care about the people, but the "special interests." I was terrified when I listened to Gore outline all the horrible deeds that the Bush administration has done to our civil rights and our liberties because it's a nightmare we're living in now.

A nightmare where the Bush administration is NOT even impeached for their unpatriotic activities, and has us ensnared in an impossible AND unnecessary war.......I want to wake up from this nightmare to see Gore as our President, but the nightmare is real and alive....

This is why I am so determined to see Howard Dean as our President because it means hope that our democracy is no longer lying in the corner, and that the bald eagle can fly once again. Somewhere now, that bald eagle, the emblem of American freedom, is shackled to the cage of the Bush administration and starved from living on the air of Freedom and Justice.

I want to see that American flag wave proudly with the bald eagle aloft on the flag pole under a Dean administration. Let us live the American dream once again. We cannot afford to slack the reins on the power we are once again harnessing. We cannot hedge, we cannot be afraid any longer, we cannot buy into any more of the lies of this age.....we must rise up, we must stand up proudly and not waver from our goals. We must be full of determination and courage to restore American democracy.

This is our call to arms now----I intend on heeding that call every way in the year of 2004.....to elect Dr. Howard Dean as the 44th AND 45th President of the United States of America!

Therefore, those of you on here, do EVERYTHING you can do to support your candidates and get rid of political apathy in America.....

1. I agree 101 percent
I too was moved to cheering at the tv. What a shame the real winner was denied the White House. Instead we have the "short bus" president.

giving till it hurts. To the elect Dean campaign. And to other democratic institutions like D.U., Salon.com, Buzz Flash.com, Southern Poverty Law Center (Morris Dees). We need these communal voices. Please give whatever a democracy is worth to you.

8. We're in a crises

Our family is doing what we can, too. We're in this together.

Gore's speech was so moving. Dean recognizes the crises in the same way, I believe.

12. KICK for Al Gore!
I intend to work in 2004 as best as I can. Give money. Write letters. ANYTHING I can think of.

Slinkerwink is right!

We stand or fall, here in 2004, perhas the last even slightly free election in Amerika.

We MUST deliver to the Democratic candidate, WHOMEVER it shall be, a theft-proof victory.

13. thank you!!
This summer in DC at my congressional internship, I realized the dangers of American apathy, and those dangers were clearly outlined in the Gore speech. We cannot afford to be politically apathetic this time around....

17. You are absolutely right slinkerwink.
We can't afford to be apathetic anymore! I was really moved at Gore's speech and found myself cheering at the tube too. He outlined all the major issues with civil liberties and security from top to bottom. It was quite compelling.

15. well....that's partly true....
the "Gore is not a human being" meme was circulated by the so-called liberal media. To Dean's credit, he does come across as a human being very easily.

"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother, be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England, now a-bed,
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here;
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."
