I remember when her "rescue" was broadcast far and wide by the corporate controlled media...a sideline bit of "feel good" news in order to garner additional support for this illegal invasion.
I also remember the initial reactions here at DU and the counter-reactions that quickly followed.
Some posters were quick to doubt the rescue story and pointed out that Lynch was a "white, blonde girl". Some speculated that her rescue had been staged. Etc. The counter-reactions were quick to "support" Lynch and were quick to protect Lynch from "personal attacks".
There's much more related to this rather pathetic drama that I'm sure that can be scrounged up with the search feature.
Anyways...a few months have passed under the bridge and we now know the REAL Pvt. Lynch. A gracefully bow in admiration to that young lass. While she could have played along and made the millions that are sure to go her way...she turned around and pointed and accusing finger at the military and their corrupt civilian masters. She bravely accused them of using her... She was quick to point out that her squad mates had been forgotten by the same military that was quick to paint her as a fearless fighter.
I admire her honesty...and her intergrity. I admire her will to stand fast and speak her mind. I admire what she has done and I truly hope that the American people embrace her bravery instanding up to the corrupt government that has LIED and cheated us. She has shown us the path...and its time that we stand up and follow.
Thank you Jessica Lynch.

Well spoken! (both of you!)
Very commendable, and she's got more honor in her pinky finger than Bush has in his entire wrinkled body.

I think the media delighted in a story where they could trumpet the new military that includes women in combat zones.
It distresses me that the true heros have been overlooked.

Unless you're still living in the Archie Bunker household I don't think there's a stigma attached to women in military anymore. Lynch wasn't even in a combat role, she was a clerk so that take is kinda moot. I think that take on the media is a bit misled.

and i think that if DUers would look at the way drudge and newmax and foxnews are attacking her so vehemently (now, not before, ever) they would realize that yelling about money she sold out for misses the broader perspective. can any one of us imagine the money the big players are dealing with to counter the truth with p.r.? to me, the story was shit in the beginning, and there is shit on the administration's face.
