PERLE GETS SHOUTED AT BY A FRENCH ADMIRAL DURING A GERMAN DEFENSE CONFERENCE IN BERLIN!!!

1. My French may be a bit weak, but there's no doubt as to his intent.
Cheers for Jacques Lanxade.

An attitude which would do nothing but worsen "the very real difficulties between Europe and Atlantic Alliance" .

7. freetranslation.com is pretty much worthless
I think Perle criticized the overly strong German-French alliance, and the French guy told him off.

In basic english.

8. He just got an unfriendly grilling from Lou Dobbs.
A peculiar spectacle. The anchor with the flag in his lapel actually interrupted his questioning to show the bombing on March 21, with the sound blasting in the middle of what seemed like a friendly questioning, then said something like, "We're seeing pictures from what was called 'Shock and awe,' an unfortunate term considering the events in the last weeks." Cut to Dobbs looking shocked and awed at Perle, "Mission accomplished? Wasn't that a somewhat premature assessment?" Perle replied very coolly, something to the effect that "The mission of the war was accomplished. But the mission since the war is still being worked on."

9. This "Administration" is scared to death of a strong Europe.
They understand the German-French relationship for what it is: A bonding together of the European continent as a significant rival for their imperial designs. The * Doctrine of not permitting any nation to approach American hegemony makes such efforts as Perle's absolutely necessary for PNAC to succeed. But since even * cannot with impunity bomb Europe, his only recourse is to make threats.

This "administration" doesn't understand the Europeans. This will be one aspect of its undoing. Unfortunately, I fear that, in the process, American influence and respect are going to be permanently damaged. * has done more to undermine US national interests and security than any other president in history.

And he doesn't even know it.
