Utter gall of Citibank!
Just got a telemarketing call from Citibank; under the guise of deterring identity theft, they want to charge me a fee to send me my credit reports and to monitor my account and check in with me when they think there's been suspicious activity (address changes, etc.). I told them I wasn't interested in paying them extra money to do what they're supposed to do anyway (this is in their own self-interest, after all). Idiot with the script kept emphasising the recent news reports about identity theft to whip up some fear. How long before banks disavow their responsibilties towards their customers who don't pay the fees for this "service"?
:puke:

2. They already are
All the national banks and credit card companies are doing this now. That's why I try to stick with banks that are regional, spread over five or six counties maybe, and have no credit cards. Life is much simpler that way.

5. Another reason to ban interstate banking.
This was a Roosevelt circuit breaker for the economy to make sure banks would not become "too big to fail" and spark a financial crisis. We need to reinstate the ban on interstate banking.

6. Ask them just one question:
"You mean you aren't doing this now?"

If the answer is no, cancel your card. Why pay to insure their investment?

7. Help build socialism instead: join a credit union.
As Kucinich said about insurance companies, for-profit banks don't make money by taking care of our interests. That's not why they're in business.

However, socialist businesses have no other purpose than to take care of our interests.
