7. I guess
my curiousity got the better of me...

BTW, I am a Dean supporter.

I do not think there is anything secret about the Freemasons anyway.

9. I would just email their campaigns and ask.
Masons are generally not ashamed to be known as such.

14. That's right-- they are generally quite proud ....
I think perhaps, the reason so many are so uncomfortable, is that it seems that the popularity of these organizations is largely going the way of the "GREATEST GENERATION." It was big for them to belong, but current generations are not being recruited in numbers sufficient to keep them going.

12. My father was a Freemason and a Shriner, as were his
brothers, father, and nearly every male in that part of rural MO. The women (my grandmother, her friends, my aunts) were part of the Eastern Star, which was, apparently, the female equivalent. While we didn't sit down and chit chat about the supposed secrets, I can assure you, that these were civic groups that did (and continue to do some wonderful things, eg. Shriner's hospitals and Scottish Rite burn units for kids, etc). I wish more people could meet the average JOE of these organizations. I think it would reassure you. It would be pretty laughable, had you known my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and father, that you would think this to be a top secret covert, nefarious organization. My father (and his counterparts) were proud of their service and membership, including his rising to the higher levels of masons.

If you are convinced these are evil organizations, you might want to read up on those revered founding fathers-- many who were freemasons.

15. I don't think they are evil.
I know about the Freemasons, the OES and the Shriners.
I was just curious about Clark and Dean being Freemasons that's all.
I did not intend to start a flame war.
Some of these posts are funny.
That's all.

16. Not to worry FLR, this subject has been posted a lot...
--usually by individuals who have their tinfoil hats firmly in place, so after a while we get a little sensitized. To be honest, I'm also curious if any of them were Masons or Shriners. Let us know if you find out.

4. All Democrats are members of a secret SHRINER conspiracy
Think you know Democrats? Think again. They are ALL caught up in a most awful Shriner conspiracy!!!

Objective #1- Democrats want to make EVERYONE wear starched white shirts and drive in these tiny cars, which actually burn MORE oil than SUVs!!!

Look at what these sex-crazed Shriners/Democrats are doing to this poor woman! SHAME ON THEM!!!!

You think those "hats" are funny, but they are really communication helmets, designed to recieve "brain messages" from area 51...

I would post links, but if I did, the "brotherhood" would bury me alive in a coffin with a red ribbon tied to my genitals...
