Memo to Secret Service: I'm talking about the fundraising graphic at the top of your screen.

The last time DU ran a fund drive, we exploded through the goal in record time. This time, it seems like that fist is not making the trip towards George's face as expeditiously as it should.

We can't buy back the mainstream news media. They're gone.

We can't buy back Congress. They're gone.

We can't buy back the White House...at least, not for another year.

But sure as heck we can make sure this website stays running. If you need to know where the money goes, Skinner has a detailed breakdown of the finances pinned to the top of GD.

Punch George in the face, folks. Pony up. The Blue Man Group needs our help, and frankly, we owe it to ourselves. Consider it a down payment on future earnings (democracy, clean air, victory, that kind of thing).

No money would come in at the beggining when we set a goal. For example, one time we set a goal for 5 million dollars in 10 days. Nobody donated in the beggining and it took us like four days to get to 1.5 million. However, everyone pulled through in the end and we were making like 800,000-1.2 million in the final half day.

BTW Will, I have been on this website for about 10 months and have enjoyed your posts and been very impressed with your writing and analysis. I had the chance to see you on C-SPAN this last summer when you were addressing a group in San Francisco (palace hotel?) I'm a professional fundraiser and can tell you that making the decision to donate is probably harder than actually writing the check. But once you begin...you feel such a sense of ownership. If each person donates the equivalent of just one month's cable bill the goal will be met in no time at all. That's what I did (and a little bit more) -- my check was mailed on Monday.
