Who thinks this 30-hour Republican Public Relations stunt will Backfire?
Edited on Wed Nov-12-03 10:55 PM by Homer12
I think it will becuase not only will it be even more apparent that the democrats have confirmed 98% of all Bush appointies, but the ideological radical judges will be even more exposed than before for were they really stand on issues.

2. I hope it will...
Fingers crossed! Plus it'll only alert the media to the way Democrats in State senates and in DC have been manipulated and intimidated by threats of redistricting, quorum breaking, etc.

3. Senator Schumer
agrees with you as I do. The Clinton witch hunt woke me up sure I voted and payed attention but that turned me off of all republicans forever. I think the 2000 selection woke up even more people in this country and I think this 30 hour waste of time will too.

8. It wont backfire,
because most people arent paying attention, and probably dont even know what channel C-SPAN 2 is, and if they hear something in the media it will undoubtably praise the repukes for their great work and dedication to minorities and women in the Senate.

13. And I have little confidence in the Dem leadership
to continue to press the advantage when the 30 hours are up.

The Repubs are on the run here, but they'll turn back, snarling and slavering, if we don't stay on their heels.

9. "Stunt" is the right word for it . . .
ABC News, of all networks, ran right down the line of everything that's wrong with this little sideshow. Let's see: Troops dying daily in Iraq, the economy stinks on ice, infrastructure crumbling, and so on and so forth, and the biggest thing the Senate Repugs can think of to do is screw around like this.

I'd prefer not to hear any more sanctimony from the Pugs about how we're dishonoring our fightin' men and women in Iraq by questioning President Stupidhead.

14. It will if the people are educated on the subject...
Because the Repubs are frauds . They are trying to deceive and manipulate the people.

15. Dems need to stick to the agenda: Jobs and Healthcare
Don't let the Repukes distract them. This 30 hour debacle is the perfect opportunity for the Democrats to talk about what's really important in thsi country and make the repukes look stupid for wasting 30 hours to talk about 4 judicial nominees who are not deserving of a judge position because of their extreme right-wing ideologies.

I think this picture of Tom Harkin sums up the stupidity of what the republicans are doing:

Give em hell dems!!!

16. I don't think it will help the pubbies
but, sadly, I don't think it will do them much harm either. The people who thought this was a lame-ass stunt right from the start have only had that view solidified. Unfortunately, the dumb asses who actually believe that the pubbies stand for anything other than corporate greed and the roll back of our individual freedoms, will cheer them on.

17. It already has.

I certainly had no idea that 98% of his nominees had already been confirmed. Or that this was the highest rate of confirmations since Gerald Ford's administration.

18. Me
Kennedy was on C-Span this morning talking about how many children will go to bed hungry tonight. Many of those children are the dependents of formerly employed Republicans.

Also I think it's becoming more well-known that there are only FOUR out of ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-TWO (or two be generous, ELEVEN) that are at issue here.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I just called Kay Bailey Hutchison's office.

Those of us who are unlucky enough to be represented by Republicans should call and let them know these talking points. :)

19. Even better than that
In response to an e-mail alert from Sen. Corzine's office (pick a dollar amount X the 30 hrs.) I wrote a check to the DSCC today and mailed it. I'm trying to get through to Frist's and plaid-shirt's offices to thank them for their actions which compelled me to write and mail the check. If I can't get through soon I'll e-mail them to let them know just how much I appreciate what they're doing!
