Why doesn't someone start up a Fascist party to steal votes from Repubs? |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-12-03 11:25 PM by SeveneightyWhoa
Dems need to conspire to start a fascist party--yes, pure fascism, something along the lines of what people at the Ann Coulter forum or Free Republic believe in--a party that will grab the votes of those "patriots" that think the Republican party is too liberal.
That would help siphon a lot of votes from the Republicans (kind of like what Nader did to Dems in '00).
We just need a charismatic leader, who can act all Bush-like and "patriotic", accuse anyone with remotely-liberal positions as America-hating queers, and *BAM*, there go about 10% of Bush's voters.
It'll have a happy-happy-patriotic name, too. Some people don't like the term "fascism" or "fascist" even if they totally agree with the ideology (Toby Keith or Ann Coulter, for example)--so we can't have those words in the name. How about the True Patriot Party Of America? Maybe something a little catchier..
So who's with me?

Dems. and the left don't need nor should do this.
There are plenty of right-wingers that can do this on their own without any help at all.

Some people actually think the Republicans are currently too "liberal". True, a lot of their social positions aren't ALL that rightwing, but on foreign policy and economy, they're ultrarightwing.
For example, when this new American Fascist Party comes into effect and recruits people outside Wal-Mart (as another poster in this thread so eloquently put it), they'll have full attention of those that think Bush isn't doing enough about "the Muslim problem", is being too easy on "baby killers", or isn't giving enough tax breaks to corporations. You won't believe how many people like that are out there.

Isn't that what Pat Buchanan tends to do? ;-)

6. Pat Buchanan is more conservative.. |
|
..than the Bush administration, who are anything but actually "conservative". Buchanan may have a few problems with racism and whatnot, but he stands by what he believes (ie. the Iraq war), doesn't parrot the Republican talkingpoints, and I respect that.

I live in Texas, and I plan on voting for the Libertarian candidate. I hope that all other Dem Texans (and Mississippians, Alabama residents, and Utah residents) do the same thing. If we can get the Libertarian Party to 5%, they get funding and more attention. For whatever reason, the Libertarians take more votes from the GOP, so we need them to play parallel to the Greens.

There's all kinda weird-ass far right parties out there. Be glad, VERY glad that they are miniscule. Some off the top of my head: Constitution Party, American Independent Party, Taxpayers Party, etc. Most are tied into the militia crowd.

already vote for the Repiglicans and are memebers of the "Republic Party". Why would they vote for a third party when they already have everything they want in the party that controls Congress, the press, the Supreme Court and has stolen the White house?
