Texans...Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX)... |
|
I was in Texas when she was first elected. Can't remember the details, but wasn't information presented in the campaign that she had slapped a woman in her office or at her home?
I can't remember if it was an assistant or a housekeeper, but I just remember that it hit the news that she had slapped someone.
Does anyone remember this or am I off in a parallel universe? Does anyone have any links to information on this?

1. Maybe the most intellectually challenged Senator. |
|
And that's saying something.

7. My dad laughs when she is mentioned as a senator |
|
He went to High School with her, and always intimated that she wasn't the brightest girl in the school.

8. Evidently, to be a republican senator you don't have to be smart... |
|
just have to be a corporate cronie.
Her ties with Enron have been exposed. Why Texans decided to keep her after that is beyond me.

3. she smacked a male asst with a ring binder notebook |
|
the story came up in her first senate campaign (1994?)but I don't think it was an event contemporaneous to the campaign. I think it happened when she was state comptroller. She is a control freak who has hysterical fits of rage. Did Anne Richards run for governor against George Bush that same year? I can't remember things so good. My bet would be Austin American Statesman or Texas Monthly sometime in July, 1994?

4. IMHO is that she is the better of the TX Senators. |
|
And that sure isn't saying anything worth anything.

11. "Not as bad as the other one" |
|
Was how we knew her when the odious Phil Gramm was in Washington. Cornyn has enabled her to retain that title.

5. Here we go...from a New York Times article dated 28 September 1993 |
|
"One Treasury employee, Sharon C. Ammann, who is the daughter of the late Gov. John B. Connally, said that Mrs. Hutchison once slapped her when she took too much time looking up a phone number that Mrs. Hutchison wanted. Mrs. Hutchison denied she had slapped anyone."

9. Wasn't there a story about doughnuts and a staffer... |
|
...like, she makes them show up at her house with doughnuts or she flips out.
What was that story?

10. Unfortunately, I saw her on C-Span. Man her comments were |

so lame I almost felt bad for her. I think she used the wrong word at one time, too.

14. She used the wrong word yesterday and Durbin nailed her for it. |
|
She said the president has a right to appoint judges. Durbin said that wasn't correct. The president has a right to nominate judges, but the Senate has the right to appoint them with the advise and consent clause. Made her look stooooopid, which I am pretty sure she is.
