2. I did read it and weep |
|
This has been going on for some time now. Provisions of the Patriot Act are being used to bust cases that have nothing to do with catching terrorists. These provisions are being used to bust drug crimes, catching crooked politicians, prostitution, and, of course, busting strip club owners. No wonder we can't find Osama Bin Laden.

6. And don't forget the Texas Repukes called in Homeland Security |
|
Don't forget the Texas Repukes used anti-terrorism law enforcement to try to track the Democrats when the Repukes wanted to make sure they re-drew the districts in Texas to make sure poor people had no representation.

4. the Patriot Act...because the Bill of Rights wasn't right wing enough |
|
from the article:
"Before the Patriot Act became law, FBI agents needed a subpoena from a grand jury to demand financial records. Under Section 314, agents no longer need trouble themselves with facing a grand jury, which is, after all, made up of only ordinary citizens. Instead, agents need only certify in a secret documentation a reasonable suspicion that money laundering is taking place.
Only after the case comes to trial can a judge rule on whether the agents' certification was adequate. If not, the judge can throw out all the evidence gathered as a result of the bogus certification, according to the Justice Department spokesmen.
Why, one wonders, is the normal subpoena process such a bother all of a sudden? Since when it is so hard to prosecute public corruption in Las Vegas, a possibility that rivals gambling in Casablanca on most people's shock-o-meters?
The Justice Department spokesman said the American people expect law enforcement officers to use any and all constitutional and legal tools to fight all crime, whether it is terror-related or not."
-and if the Constitution is a bother, what with all those protections for all Americans, who, for all John Ashcroft knows, could be potential criminals, well, that's what the Patriot and and the Victory Acts are for.
Victory over what, I wonder? Constitutional Democracy?

used for ordinary crime?
I remember.

11. Remember how Ashcroft had a phalanx of FBI Agents in |
|
New Orleans in the monts leading up to 9/11. He had them working on an investigation into prostitution. And can you beleieve it, after months of work they actually found and busted three prostitutes in the French Quarter.
That's some pretty impressive, Biblically-guided sleuthing. While Ashcroft had his Bureau sniffing around for sex, however, planes smashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon (ooops!).
I think Johnny Puritan has an obsession. He wants to use the "Patriot Act" to make America a "Christian Nation." Obey his hate-filled interpretation of the Bible, or he will see that the System crucifies you.
Haven't we been down this road in history before? I'm having deja vu all over again.
