1. I thought the Senator from Lousiana
made some excellent points and showed alot of passion. I hear many people who say they don't vote because politicians show no passion in what they say and only care about getting elected. I just wish those people heard what she had to say earlier tonight.

2. Agreed... but Either Pryor is tired as I am or he's just uninspiring.
Scheduling him in the dead of night was good... prime time would have been deadly for us.

3. I think it's a combination of both
But it's a good thing he is on in the middle of the night. How many Senators are there in the building right now?

5. He is a boring speaker trying to avoid confrontations
One of his campaign commercials here in Arkansas included the line, "I support President Bush in the War on Terror."

I voted for him, yes, but only because his opponent was the truly despicable Tim Hutchinson.

26. Me too
Hutchinson was terrible. Anything in comparison is better. From letters I've received from him, Pryor doesn't strike me as being very charismatic or very liberal. BTW, KUAF (Fayetteville AR) made sure everyone in their listening area knew when Pryor would be on the floor, and hinting at the great sacrifice he was making for the party by taking the graveyard shift....

6. Boring or not, he's speaking for OUR side
That's something to consider when you remember that there are people like Zell Miller who have the nerve to call themselves Democrats.

Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 04:07 AM by elperromagico
"This is a crisis!!! We're hurting future generations!"

I'd say the fact that future generations have unemployed parents right now is more of a crisis.

Moronic prick.

11. Um-hum. With the Deficit spending he keeps approving.
let me say this in 1st grade words.

4 judges will not make the court log better.

40 judges might alleviate the backlog in the circuit courts.

400 would help a lot.

The big problem is the country is growing and the need for courts is growing as the society becomes more complex.

These 4 judges will just make this worse and cause problems for the Supreme Court.

Politicat.

8. so correct me if I'm wrong....
there are 55 Repugs in the senate and 45 Dems.

Those 55 knew going in that if this was going to go on party lines, they couldn't get it to pass because of the reduced super-majority (used to be worse - 66).

So they had to get 5 Dems to go along with them, and with the climate, it was not going to happen.

So this is literally nothing more than their way of trying to kick us....

And amazingly it's not happening.

I think we are winning.

But we didn't start this debate. They did. They called it.

Insane.

The Republicans need nine votes. They already have Zell "Wolf In Sheep's Clothing" Miller, so they only need eight.

... they will make it 48, 96, 240, whatever it takes because they have no respect for fairness or tradition or civil discourse.

12. And they have no respect
for the millions of unemployed people who will lose their benefits on New Year's Eve. It fills me with rage to watch these whiny f***ing Republicans shoot down any attempt at legislation to extend unemployment benefits.

These bastards want to shut down the damned government so they can complain about four judges! And now they want to take it to the Supreme Court!

The republicans rejected 20% of Clinton's judges while the democrats are only rejecting 4% thus far.

15. I have been wondering about that....
I mean, if they want to prove how "serious" and "tough" (and dimwitted and out of touch with their constituencies) they are, they could make this permanent.

Make us call in the National Guard because they're squatting. After all, it's a federal building. You're not allowed to live there.

Something on the line of a weird, twisted strike.

I'm making calls to my senator's office regularly to complain. This is bullshit.

Of course, Allard the Mallard and Benny Boy Campbell don't listen to liberals like me.....

I swear. I just watched his little tirade.

I am sorry, Rick, but quite frankly, the Christian God has no place in the public sector. I am sorry you feel forced to recognize muslims as human beings, but you are just going to have to learn to deal with disappointment.

And, watching this asshole at work, I can't help but wonder...

Does he ever pass up an opportunity to "defend marriage", by which I mean does he ever miss a chance to slam homosexual relationships???

What a jerkoff.

28. I sent Sanatoriums an email.....
"Sir, in watching your antics and theater during the FAILED talkathon put on by those of you who are supposed to be doing the business of the country, I find you to not only be the most repugnant person I have ever viewed in Politics, I find you to be a devious and deceitful human being. Your moral outrage is misplaced, and you soil not only the Constitution, you soil the memory of the great politicians who have preceeded you in the sacred chamber that is known as the Senate.

You don't deserve to serve the people, you deserve a place in prison serving the special interests behind steel bars. The American people are your employers, and I can only hope they dismiss you in the next election. You deserve nothing less."

Feel free to send this to any Senator of your choosing.

Tell ya what, Rick.

If you think Ruth Bader Ginsburg (ooooooh! hisssssss!!!) is some sort of wild radical, Durbin was right. You are the extreme loony right wing.

Because sane people know that Ginsburg is a complete, utter, absolute centrist.

Of course, Senator Rick (R-Jihad) is a one-note Charlie. Come out and say it Rick, baby. What you really want is judges who will do what judges should do: Get big government back in our bedrooms, where it belongs.

He just said that, no matter where he goes, in the country, in the city, in the towns, in the villages, far and wide, nobody wants to talk about Iraq or jobs or all that crap. Nosirreee! They want to talk about the unprecedented filibuster of judicial nominees.

Kit, baby. Can I have some o' what you're smokin'?

27. From Zell Miller's book-
Paraphrasing, I'm tired too- "The USA has a system where 41 members can thwart the will of 59. Try to explain that to someone in the Wal-Mart parking lot," yadda yadda.

While you'are at it, explain how someone who got *half a million* <[i>more votes than their opponent in our 2000 presidential race is not sitting in the White House.
