What's up with Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska
I noticed that Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Sen. Turncoat Zell Miller voted with the Republicans on the Cloture issues for the judicial nominees. Is Nebraska so conservative that the Democratic seat would have been in jeapardy if Nelson had voted with the other Dems? Are there two possible turncoats? Just asking the question.

1. Nelson
I believe is the senate's second most conservative democrat after Zell. While Nebraska is a conservative state, Bob Kerrey who also served as a governor and senator had a much more liberal record than Nelson.

2. I have never liked Nelson.
I worked for the other dem candidate's campaign when Nelson was running for governor. He is a huge DINO and I have no respect for him.

6. most likely since he is kind of new
i believe he was elected to the senate in 2000. so he will probably seek another term. i don't have too much of a problem with him since he does come from a conservative state and would probably lose if he was more liberal (he doesn't have the war hero status appeal of bob kerrey which allowed kerrey to lean more liberal). he isn't going around being an asshole like zell miller is.

9. i don't expect much from him
with the senate being so close i just see him as another seat for democrats in our attempt to take back the senate, so we don't have to put up with assholes like santorum and this stupid worthless marathon senate session thing.

4. i wish bob kerrey was still there
it was a safe seat for us in a conservative state with him. did you know he voted against the defense of marriage act ? he was a big supporter of abortion rights also.

12. Not all of Nebraska.
Lincoln & Omaha are not as conservative. Southeast NE voted against the repub governor, who by the way had been the Lincoln Mayor. Go figure!

13. Extreme northeast Nebraska is also not as conservative.
Regarding Johanns, I think that Lincoln wasn't terribly impressed with him as mayor and voted accordingly in the governor's race.

I felt a little uncomfortable in Lincoln as a libbie. Until I went into the Foxy Lady! Then I was at home. Go GO Pastie bars!
