1. Crikey
I dislike the CIA as a rule, but they are usually on the money, especially after being dissed by Bush and Rummy.

I'm more inclined to take the word of the CIA than some General(5,000 insurgents) pulling figures out of his ass.

3. Bremer trying to figure out a way to let Bush know. Jeesh.
"There are thousands in the resistance - not just a core of Ba'athists. They are in the thousands, and growing every day. Not all those people are actually firing, but providing support, shelter and all that."

You think his advisors would realize that 50,000 counter-insurgents is something the president should be aware of. But, no, we have to rely on leaked CIA interior memos.

4. I can understand his advisers not wanting Bush to know.
He might freak and go back to cocaine or the bottle.

5. Bremer appears to be freaking out
Running back to Washington, and the WH making the ridiculous assumption that transfer of power will be rapid and smooth.

10. I suggest sock puppets
"OK Mr. President, Mr. Jihaad on my left hand is the insurgency....on my right hand and my two feet, we have Pvts. Simmons, Garfield and Velazquez. Now all the other socks in your drawer come from Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan,...."

6. Yeah, a smooth transition
This estimate brought to you by the same chowderheads who gave you "cakewalk" and scenarios where upon invasion Iraqi dissidents would somehow organize and arm themselves, becoming crack squadrons of revolt that would blend seamlessly (by telepathy apparently) with coalition elements in order to overthrow Saddam.

Why I'd bet my deed to the Brooklyn Bridge that they know what they're talking about with this transition fairy tale.

7. It's as if the three stooges invaded iraq.
The incompetence is truly staggering. This operation is officially a failure.

8. How is it we have to find out this kind of news...
from a link a UK paper, simply astounding. The blackout is far reaching, but doesn't reach across the pond, thank goodness.
Page 6 in my local city newspaper, says "Coalition Unwilling to Send Troops to Iraq". bush* is in a real jam and heads will roll, unfortunately they're mostly gonna be Iraqi.
It was reported that buzzardbrains is getting "impatient" with the progress in Iraq, hence Bremer called back to the US for a pow wow, I knew then the bombs would start dropping, it's the only diplomacy the mad chimp emperor knows, who's gonna reel him in and more importantly, when?

12. It was also in the Christian Science Monitor.

I posted it on another thread. If I find it I'll post it here.

Anyway, the CS Monitor is not a bad source at all for hard news.

Found it: http://csmonitor.com/2003/1112/dailyUpdate.html

9. Is it Vietnam, yet????
If not, it's getting there. This is a worse situation by far, than it was on the ground in Iraq, last March and April. Usually, when a war is 'over', the fighting stops. Unbelievable!!!
