Poll question: Worst Republican Governor |
|
There are frequently polls asking for the worst Republican Senator, so I thought I'd see everyone's opinions on the governors.

The absolute worst. My father, who's usually reserved about politics, has set a goal of one day beating the shit out of Rick Perry, whom he refers to as "Tom Delay's Bitch".

He is so much of a slime that even other Repugs don't like him.
He's like Tom DeLay but with more styling product in his hair.

I swear to you non-Texans that he truly is dumber than a fence post. Has to be the least intelligent Gov we've ever had. And since that list includes Bill Clements AND Shrub, that means a lot.

Engler was the worst. Had all repubs in state thinking he reduced taxes. Left a HUGE budget deficit and then lied about it. Granholm got the shock of her life when she found out how huge it really was. Now Rebugs are criticizing her for trying to fix it.

Ohio Democrats hate him. Ohio Republicans hate him. He's less popular than Grey Davis, and has the personality of a stump. If Ohio had a recall procedure, he'd be gone.

Next would be our current governor - Mike Huckabee.

That's Jim "The internet boom will always be here so let's pretend that the dot com revenues will continue in perpetuity" Gilmore.
Tax revenues not being what they once were resulted in oceans of red ink that the current Democratic governor must now deal with.
Mark Warner is finding it kinda hard to implement his programs with no $$.
PJ O'Rourke was having a rare moment of lucidity when he said
"The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it."

Career criminal - scandal after scandal in his administration. Had cronies cover up his police record (an incident with his ex-wife where police were called...), made deals with Enron and all sorts of shady types, relocated some state offices to his hometown, treated state employees like trash, etc, etc.

Andrew Cuomo is notorious for saying about George Pataki that he didn't lead the State of New York after September 11th, he held Rudy Giuliani's coat. Pataki's record as governor has mostly been one of kowtowing to the RNC. Maybe Bush will tap him to be on the ticket in pace of Dick Cheney, maybe not. Pataki has been a lousy governor, that's for sure.

Rick Perry continues the Shrub's reckless fiscal policies, continues the gutting of what limited Texas enviornmental law enforcement exists, leaves the school finance issue unresolved, then shoves through two special partisan redistricting session at the behest of Rove, DeLay, and Dubya.
The alacrity with which Perry responded to Republican calls for redistricting shows all the earmarks of an errand boy, not a leader.
A sorry piece of work.
