Hawai'i Gov. (R) requests golf tournament exemption for M. Wie
This is without doubt one of the most bizarre stories I've seen come down the pike in quite some time...

http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2003/Nov/14/sp/sp01a.html

The newest golf frontier to be conquered by Honolulu phenom Michelle Wie lies about 10 minutes from her house.

Wie, who turned 14 last month, has been granted a sponsor's exemption to play in the 2004 Sony Open in Hawai'i, set for Jan. 15 to 18 at Waialae Country Club. The announcement was made at a press conference yesterday at the office of Gov. Linda Lingle, who requested the exemption.

Ed. note: Lingle, a Repuke, is in the lower right-hand corner of this picture:

Have you ever seen anything so repulsive in your entire life?! :puke:

I mean, good Gawd, the woman is only fourteen years old, and already the nasty, filthy Repukes are sinking their poisoned fangs into her! Enough, already!

<sarcasm>

At least Lingle isn't trifling with piddling issues like the sluggish Japanese visitor count, mediocre school test scores, or persistent overdevelopment. No, sirree! She's tackling the most important issue facing Hawai'i today, or indeed, for many generations: the fact that Michelle Wie has as yet failed to qualify for the Sony Open.

</sarcasm>

1. IWhat? Lingle trying to make inroads?
Trying to make inroads into the Korean community? BAH. I am Korean and she won't get anywhere with us (unless they are a part of Rev. Moon's church, but those Koreans are mostly in LA The newer immigrants. My great-grandfather came on the second ship to Hawaii)

Poor thing..I hope it doesn't affect her but after reading this.. it looks like she'll fit right in with the repugnants..

"I like the easy road," said Wie, when asked if she would have rather qualified on the course. "I played in the qualifier three times, so I know how hard it can be. It's a one-day deal, and anything can happen. I like this way better."

4. Props to Wie
She is pretty small and can drive the ball 300+ yards. I think she will really bring women's golf into the spotlight. Give her a couple of years and she will be whipping Sorenstam. And she will make cuts on the men's tour.

5. Lingle shoulda stayed outta this. Wie can handle her own in good time
without help from politicians.

Lingle is far from being the govenor she claimed she was going to be. Econ still in doldrums and many other items not pos addressed.

Wie is only 14 and has many good things ahead for her. She don need no stinking pub help/ already the pros are squawking bloody murder.

Lingle should stick to minding the Gov't
