The Daily Howler takes Kristof out behind the woodshed!

HIS MASTER’S VOICE: We agree with some of the things Nicholas Kristof said in his Wednesday New York Times column. For example, we certainly (tend to) agree with his opening paragraph:

KRISTOF: Considering the savagery with which the Snarling Right excoriated President Clinton as a “sociopath,” blocked judicial appointments, undermined U.S. military operations from Kosovo to Iraq, hounded Vincent Foster and then accused the Clintons of murdering him, it is utterly hypocritical for conservatives to complain about liberal incivility.

1. I think the difference between

liberal hatred and conservative hatred is that we have a legitmate reason to hate. Another thing is that we are actually questioning our hatred, something that the conservatives haven't done. We try to understand it instead of the conservatives who will just keep on pulling stuff out of their ass.

say what you want about Dems, but they're not trying to screw over little people and those that can't fight back...really, they're not trying to fuck over anybody...even I don't think Lieberman wants to fuck people over...it's the Repukes that seem to go out of their way to make it worse for everybody

3. This article doesn't "take Kristof out behind the woodshed." Not nearly

enough, anyway. It's too damn polite.

Anyone who has read Kristof over the years knows he's a timid littel pissant. Maybe once or twice a year, when he feels on exceptionally safe ground (like when he revealed the identity of the anthrax mailer suspect), he does something good. The rest of the time he's mainly in the business of molly-coddling the right wing, all the while claiming he's "a liberal."

Kristof is everything that his colleague Krugman is not. He's primarily a gutless worm, concerned more than anything else with whom his articles may offend.
