Nixon's ghost in Bu$h's body! I swear!
Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 08:21 PM by DemoTex
I heard Nixon speak through Bu$h's mouth today. Damn, it was weird! Nixon said essentially the same thing about the Iraqis as he said about the South Vietnamese in 1970. Only then, he called it Vietnamization of the War. Today Nixon said (through his medium, Bu$h), that the Iraqis wanted to take over more responsibility in prosecuting the war (I paraphrase). To that end, Bremer will charge back to Iraq (kind of like the US Ambassadors to the court of Saigon did time and time again) with the "solution." I'm sure the regime has better sense than to call it the Iraqization of the War. Too bad none of the regime (except for lyin' Colin, of My Lai infammy) had any thing to do with Vietnam. Had they, this surreal scenario might be playing a bit differently on our screens.

On edit: My prediction is that we lose this one too.

1. I heard the same thing
and I thought the same thing.

Which is pretty odd, considering that I wasn't even born in the 70's. XD Knowing your history is a good thing.

2. It is like watching a repeat of the 60's and 70's again, Mac
Only everything is sped up real fast this time. I must be getting old or something?

7. No, it's not time sped up by aging Don.
It is that these fuckers want to get their hands on every penny they can - mine, yours, the American workers' and the hapless Iraqis (whose country we have totally screwed up) - before the world and the USA wake up and send these rapacious thugs to perdition.

4. So is Bush channeling Nixon? Or did his speech writers
plagiarize Nixon thinking no one would notice?

Altho I now understand that without Nixon (and others before him), there would have BEEN no Bush41 and 43.

14. Well, I wouldn't use "saint" to modify "Nixon" ...
However, I dig your drift. Who whould of thunk that we liberals would ever consider Nixon the lesser of two evils? As Dr. Hunter. S. Thompson would say, "Strange tales from strange times"

6. Iraqiazation of the military, what a novel idea
I wonder where this Republican Administration got that idea?

The scary thing is Bush* co have made overtures to ex-Saddam military leaders (HUH???!!!) hoping to recruit a military to take their place and die fighting their own people.

yes, this is a real winner folks. Iraqiazation

13. Ain't it true, sister!
I've never done acid, but I'm on a trip now. A weird political trip. I need something to take the edge off. Actually this Cab/Shiraz blend is doing pretty good tonight.

11. You nailed it, my friend
Vietnamization = Iraqization. I remember that phrase all too well.

I lost my dad (WWII vet) recently, and I'm glad he didn't learn about the new "Operation Iron Hammer", because he and a lot of his buddies would have had a pretty hard time knowing that the US military heads aspire to duplicate a Nazi operation.

We've already lost. It was over before it started.
