1. We still need someone with desktop publishing talent to convert

the first item to a three-panel brochure, with back panel blank so it can be customized for candidates or organizations.

Also, if you have desktop publishing skills, we could use an attractive Word Document for Talking Points and answers -- the written copy for that is here:

We could use more than one design -- actually, now that I saw the request, it is for a four-fold brochure. Oops.

As you can see, we are doing something a little different with our forum. It has a "I Need This" section and a "You Can Use This" section (we put filled requests from I Need This in here) and it has a "Talent Pool" section so you can send messages to people with the skills you need and, of course, thanks to Nostamj, SoCalDem, abcdan and others, we have a Gallery.

These are all designed for self-serve activism.

That 3-panel brochure is directed to people who already get it and who want "more" than the basics. It's a bit much for a first timer's intro to this issue. There's also a need for good simple intro's directed at people who haven't yet considered that there might be something wrong. Prettier, simpler, more graphics, with just the essential question being posed and some references for further info.

6. Here's the request as posted in the blackboxvoting.org forum

"4-page brochure for campaigns"

I'm thinking of something usable by Andy to get the essentials of the BBV issue out as a part of his campaign. With only the fourth page specific to him, the last page could easily be modified for other campaigns or events, so it would be helpful beyond WA state (although I would like to see a plug for his campaign in all versions).

Format, two sides of one 8.5x11" sheet, folded in half to form a 4-page brochure. One color printing.

Cover page: A strong graphic or cartoon with a small amount of text identifying the nature of the threat. Something that will get people to turn the page,

Inside pages 2&3: Text with more specific info, maybe with a half-dozen bullet-pointed essentials on p.3.

Back page 4: Brief statement by/about Andy & his campaign and references for further info.

.pdf format would allow anyone to print out a few dozen at home for distribution at a meeting or have a printer run out larger numbers.

We've got a new activist, screen name "the ether" who is about to pop a new activism event on us. I won't steal his thunder, but I will steal his quote, because I really like this. From my mailbag:

"I've come to the conclusion that if all of us don't pick up our own two feet and start walking, however far we can go, there is going to be a lot of catching up to do in the long run for this country."

This is a person who came, looked around, and said "how can I jump in" and created a very good action plan without even one finger of his hand being held.

We are beginning to swarm, now folks. All we need is more bees and more hives.
