WTF! "Tough times?? We just got great news from the war front" |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-23-03 11:28 PM by TruthIsAll
Someone with a handfull of posts actually wrote this tonight on DU. Already they are using Clinton's words against us.
"Hell, the capture of Saddam's sons is GREAT news from the front. Now maybe the guerilla war being waged against our boys will subside. We want, like Bill Clinton said last night, for democracy to take hold in Iraq. We want those people free. We want the transition to go smoothly. We don't want our boys to get potshots taken at them. I see the demise of these two monsters as a great thing for our country. Let's get positive, shall we?"
Sure, let's get positive. Our democracy is in shambles, our economy is in shambles, we have no friends in the world, we live under a fascist regime, our pResident and his bunch lied to get us into a war - NOT for Iraq's democracy, but for her OIL. But Saddam's boys got whacked. That solves everything. Just ties it all up, doesn't it?
A great thing for our country would be the demise of those who hijacked and stole the election. A great thing for our country would be to bring our troops home. A great thing for our country would be to use the money for health care and jobs.
Oh, Bushie patriotism! Isn't it sad?

1. I think Clinton was just taking the high road. |
|
After all the monsterous evil crap he's suffered at the hands of the Republicans. If Clinton started to seriously badmouth President(sic) Junior, suddenly the story would be about Clinton. Keep the focus on Bush.

2. Let's get positive about killin... |
|
..."they needed killin" someone said yesterday. Yes, it's quite appauling. As bad as the UN has been at times, Bush's recent pleadings to the "coalition of the willing" to help in Iraq are a clear demonstration that these goons had not plan A, B or C for post-war other than sucking the sand dry of its black gold. Bush needs to tell Cheney to get his damn hands off the oil maps and make some conciliatory gestures rather than acting like arrogant bastards...

After Bush proclaimed military victory, Rumsfeld can't admit that the ongoing resistance is anything but a "security problem". Certainly there's no front as such, even if General Abizaid is candidly acknowledging a guerrilla war.
In Vietnam, the measures we used to reckon success or failure were too complicated for the American public. Recognizing this as an opportunity to capitalize on the gap between the popular understanding of the war versus the opinion of military professionals, Vo Nguyen Giap went all out to maximize American casualties. He was correct in his guess that Americans would interpret the spike in the number of fatal casualties as losing the war. We did.
In 2003, we again have an emerging credibility gap between ordinary Americans and military professionals waging the war. Naive Americans, eager to cheer for any good news out of Iraq, are setting themselves up for another Tet offensive, a day when we take a much larger number of casualties than usual.

I think he's off having to get defibrillated because of all the liberal trash like us besmirching the good name of his jockstrap-in-chief. I'm kinda in the mood tonight to kick a freeper's teeth down his throat anyway. Compassionless Liberalism, don'cha know.
