The Eagles Fundraiser for Clark |
|
I was unable to attend, but here are a few notable factoids from a highly reliable source:
1) The event sold out, and it was a BIG restaurant! Specific amounts are unknown, but estimates range between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Not bad for a night's work!
2) Ben and J Lo were in attendance, among many other notables and industry powerhouses.
3) State Senator Kevin Murray was a featured speaker. Sen. Murray is the son of Dr. Cecil L. "Chip" Murray, the senior minister of the First AME church, the oldest black congregation in the city.
4) Clark introduced the band individually, and told a story about how when he was running a base in the California desert, the soldiers called the place Hotel California. :-)
5) The Eagles ran through all of their hits, and apparently were amazing. They dedicated "Dirty Laundry" to Rupert Murdoch.

That, my friend, is FUCKING COOL!!! For Clark to get an endorsement from Don Henley speaks volumes too!

Pretty good action for a "fading" candidate, as dirty laundry Murdock would say!

for the information. Any additional details you may have about the Eagles (like did they say anything about the General? Did Henley rant about anything?) would be greatly appreciated. The Eagles fan community is pretty excited about Clark...especially since Joe Walsh started singing his praises in interviews. I'd be glad to put up some direct quotes about Clark on my Eagles website. It gets about 1500 hits a day so it wouldn't be bad publicity.
Thanks again for the details.

18. Right on General Clark |
|
Go Clarke A true American who served his country unlike the Chickenhawks in office right now (starting with draft skirter Coward Bush and his lovely veep draft dodger Cheney, followed by his non-reader Ashcroft -- all draft dodging pukes)
I am voting for him, and I also sent his campaign a nice check.
