one less feisty dem (a little tribute to a great lady |
|
a great lady passed last night.
i'd known her for over 20 years because of my ongoing songwriting partnership (and friendship) with her son. (he writes the music, i write the words)
even as age and illness sapped her strength, she maintained an exuberance and embrace of life. she was stubborn as hell. she was quick to laugh. and loved conversation.
she lived a mostly quiet life, but possessed extraordinary talent as a painter, really blossoming as an artist late in life.
she had a very close relationship with her son and even in considerable pain traveled to NYC to see our last production. she was SO proud, she utterly glowed.
and, of course, she was a feisty, outspoken Dem.
my life was richer for having known her.
she is missed.

this poor thread will die a quick death
i know that this kind of thing is supposed to be in the Lounge, but, i checked out the thread titles, and it just seemed a bit disrespectful to put this there...
 i'm a mess anyway...

I am sure that you all will celebrate her life....mourning death is painful. Life's celebration is what dying after leaving a full life is all about.
May she live in all who's spirit she touched!

to her family and friends.
For those who were close to her, it will take time before they are able to finish mourning her loss, and begin celebrating her life.
With my own late mother, it has taken years for the memories to only rarely evoke sorrow at her passing. But now, every day I can rejoice in her, and what she meant to my life, and others'.
