Blanco won 38% of the white vote in Louisiana
Looks like Blanco at least cut into that bigoted white vote in Louisiana: people who just could not fathom a South Asian as their governor. This time bigotry worked to our advantage. Most of these white people seem to be outside of the New Orleans metro area. Meanwhile 91% of blacks voted for Blanco. The Nagin endorsement proved to be worthless for Jindal.

1. It isn't necessarily racism
Her base has always been cajun country as she is from there. It is hardly unreasonable that a candidate from that region would do well in that region which she apparently did.

2. Whille I am happy a Dem won I really don't see bigotry as ever working to
our advantage. The last thing we want to do is associate the intent of our party or programs with bigotry. That is NOT the intent of the Democratic party platform.

4. What % of the white vote did Landrieu win last year?
If there was a significant gap we can chalk our win up to racism. However, Jindal did receive the same percentage of the vote as Terrell so it appears that race was not a factor.

5. She got more a higher percentage of the black vote though
so there was some difference. But that still doesn't prove racism. Blanco is a cajun and has always done well in those areas. Thus they may well have been voting for her and not against Jindal.
