You have got to be kidding me.

Things like this seriously put my opposition to the death penalty to the test. This is the only museum in the state about child survivors of the Holocaust, and some Nazi halfwit devides to burn it down.

I seriously hope the people who did this get thrown in jail and tossed in with the big, black lifers who don't like swastika tattoos.

One of which is a member of the UAE army here studying engineering, and was featured in the paper shortly before the Iraq invasion, talking about his opposition to the war. I wonder how long before he and others like him get blamed.

Sadly, Indiana seems to be a very conservative ... reactionary might be a better word ... state. Don't forget Dan Quayle is from there. And I know that many fine liberal/progressive people also live there, including DUers.

7. This is so sad...

I live not far from Terre Haute and I am a member of the Terre Haute Islamic center. This crime saddens me greatly, the candles museum is a wonderful place and an asset to Terre Haute.
I hope the damage was not extensive, and that CANDLES is able to reopen soon.
Considering the grafitti at the scene, I suspect it will be hard to try and blame T.H.'s Islamic community (not that that has ever stoped anyone before)
I am glad that no one was hurt, and I hope and pray this is not a pre-cursor of further attacks against T.H.'s Jewish Community.

About a week ago - I had heard an advertising for a story in the mainstream news that sounded like it was just trying to stir up shit against the Islamic center in Plainfield.

It is so hard to have peace when people don't want to cooperate and when the Media incites hate.



BTW - I was just in Terre Haute last week - looking at Museums (missed the Holocaust one) - my first trip over to do that. There was a cool art exhibit on campus in the main Fine Arts gallery (sorry I don't have the dates) by a Chinese artist. It was drawings/paintings of a political nature such as people shackled by the State and forced to starve while people and familes danced around them.
- Some really powerful things. HIGHLY recommended.

When will this shit ever stop? I thought it was bad when I had to take my son to the synagogue for High Holy Days with ARMED GUARDS at the damn doors because of threats to burn the place down. They had guards at the parking entrance and Exit. Disgusting that people have to put up with this shit just to practice their religion.
