Sickening, Shameful Propoganda
http://www.msnbc.com/news/993625.asp?vts=111820030714

U.K. police, protesters await Bush

LONDON, Nov. 18 — Police and protesters prepared Tuesday for the arrival of President Bush, and a new poll found that the weight of public opinion was on the American leader’s side. London’s Metropolitan Police — mindful both of protests and the potential for a terrorist attack — scheduled 14,000 officer shifts to cover the state visit that ends Friday, nearly three times as many as the force had originally planned.

--snip--

This story is a disgusting piece of propoganda and distortion. How do they justify the above bolded sentence that public opinion is on Bush's side? Because of this:

"Forty-three percent of those questioned in an ICM survey said Bush should visit Britain, while 36 percent said he should not. Some 62 percent agreed that America was “generally speaking, a force for good,” while 15 percent thought it was “an evil empire.”"

Just because 43% think he should visit, doesn't mean they support him. I'll bet a fair portion of that number want him to visit so they can protest him and show him how they hate him. And the fact that 62% don't think America is an evil empire is NOT support for Bush. Not by a long shot. Why don't they ask the obvious question: "Do you approve or dissaprove of Bush?" I'd LOVE to see those numbers. I wonder if they did ask that question but the "reporter" decided NOT to include that bit of information.

It's almost like saying Bush is against killing baby kittens and 99% of Britons ALSO oppose killing baby kittens, therefore 99% of Britons LOVE and support Bush!

This is a sickening piece of tripe. The distortions and contortions the author of this article had to go through to try to paint these numbers as indicating that the weight of public opinion in Britain is on Bush's side is downright despicable. I'm truly horrified that this sort of dishonest reporting is being so blatantly propogated and pushed. Shameful, truly shameful.

1. Let's see if MSGOP dares to show any of the protests that will be
going on in London. It sounds like they are trying desparately to convince Americans that the British love The Chimp as much as we Americans do. :puke:

Why is that poll wearing a leather Mini, tube top, spike heels, and cherries in the snow lipstick?

Never mind, dear, move along.

4. Just a small handful of lefties and commies who don't
worship LordGodBush.

The attempt to marginalize and trivialize the mass protests has begun prior to the protests.

Carl Rove is in his little studio with headphones on to whisper in the ear of all the talking heads to tell them what to say about the visit of LordGodBush to London.

It will be universally acclaimed as a triumph of statesmanship and bravery.

7. Also NPR said that 'support for war' has INCREASED in the UK?
I almost ran off the road when I heard that. Morning edition said support for war in the UK had increased from 41% to 49% (I think). WTF???!!! Where are they getting these numbers from?

9. Statistics is less a science than an art
All I learned in my freshman statistics course is that if you ask the right questions and finesse the equations the right way, you can make people say they support eating babies smeared in goat shit.

11. What's happened in this article
isn't as much about the question, it's the faulty conclusion drawn from the results, i.e. Britons support Bush because they don't think America is evil. It's a ludicrous leap to make.

13. eating babies smeared in goat shit.
Poll question:

Do you support having your stomach slit open and your intestines removed slowly so that you die an excruciating 8 hour death or would your rather eat babies smeared in goat shit?

Poll result:

Majority support eating babies smeared in goat shit!

12. the Guardian too!
the problem with this poll is Pro-American sentiment is NOT the same as pro-Bush sentiment, and the media is ignoring the difference. 62% of Brits may be Pro-American; I seriously doubt if the question was presented "do you approve of Bush?" the response would even crack the 50% mark. Think of it this way; I guess you could say I am pro-british but not pro-poodle.

Does this mean the international media has been infiltrated as well?

The Guardian, headed by Andrew Rawnsley
Usualy they let them out on Sundays in the pages of The Observer.
Seems that they started planting their disinformation earlier this
week...

18. they're working overtime on this
they must consider this a major embarrassment, possibly fatal to Bush's election, because they are seriously putting all their efforts into protecting him.
