How can Repubs be so blind? |
|
Their leader, George W Bush is despised around the world. Even with our long-time allies, he has to get police protection to simply visit their country. Please explain why that is? Do they just hate him for his "freedom"? No. There is another reason.
He is a threat to the peace of the world. His macho cowboy image is a facade. He is neither macho nor a cowboy. He was a cheerleader at Yale. He chickened out of going to Viet Nam when he had the opportunity.
But he is such a strong leader, they say. No. We were attacked because he is such a "weak" leader. He was asleep at the wheel. No matter how much he wishes to blame Bill Clinton, he was in office for 8 months. The buck stops with him - no matter if he refuses to accept it.
Most of the world sees a warmonger that thinks war is he solution to all our problems. He won't fight it himself but he will send other young men and women to die for his cause. It is not America's cause. He is despised because he is a despicable individual.

2. The GOP doesn't care what the rest of the world thinks. |
|
Hence the Bush Doctrine, which states that as much as we would like allies, America will go it alone if we must. Stupid, as we're destroying alliances that we forged since the end of the sencond World War.

It's a point of pride with these guys that the world despises us. They are bullies, at heart, and enjoy being loathed as long as its because they think they can "whip everyone's butt" or other such silliness.
Which of course makes the U.S. very weak and vulnerable and will create the kind of crisis they are paranoid about.
Long story short: They are stupid or woefully misinformed.

it's just that choose to look the other way. Bush promotes their agenda while getting his kick-back in return. Kind of the old saying, "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours."

I have to say they must simply approve of such behavior like the germans did.

because all they do is ultimately think only of themselves. When you fail to think about others and have real concern about their lives, then you gain a greater understanding of how things are.

11. Conservatism is like a dogma driven religion |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-18-03 12:46 PM by Mountainman
I remember when I was a kid growing up going to Catholic school and I had a dad that grew up a Baptist and Mom who grew up Catholic. I would be confused about what the nuns were saying and I would go to my dad for clarification. An example was the virgin birth. My dad would say it wasn't possible and my mom would tell him to shut up and not to go against what the nuns were teaching me.
The average rethug is like my mom only politically and not religiously. They believe in dogmas and no amount of reality is going to change their minds. They believe if you only put a conservative solution on every problem all will be well. They don't have vision only narrow minded, blinder aided site
Repubs are not enlightened.
Emanuel Kant said it best I think in his answer to what is enlightenment.
What is Enlightenment? Königsberg (Prussia), 30 September 1784.
Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-incurred immaturity. Immaturity is the inability to use one's own understanding without the guidance of another. This immaturity is self-incurred if its cause is not lack of understanding, but lack of resolution and courage to use it without the guidance of another. The motto of enlightenment is therefore: Sapere aude! Have courage to use your own understanding!

Catholic nuns (in my day) were all caring and dedicated, but we also knew that many of them are just plain nuts!! We learned to take everything said by them (or by the Priests!) not so seriously. (Maybe that's why Catholics only give lip service to condom usage and reasons to have sex.)
I went to public schools but my first time in a real Catholic school was to a Jesuit University!! where there were mandatory classes in religion for the first two years. This time, the teachers weren’t nuns or some lay schmucks. These guys (almost all of them Priests) were outstanding in their subject.
The second semester, it’s “The New Testament”, and I get this cloistered Dominican (they let him out to teach these classes – he was that good, brilliant really). One day he goes into the origins of the bible and virgin birth. He said to really know the bible you had to read the bible in its original, and that means reading it in the original Greek. Forget that King James stuff.
So, what was the Greek definition of “Virgin”? At the time it meant one thing, a woman of marriageable age. That’s it!! No more. Don’t read anything further into it. It means she was old enough to be married, and it had nothing to do with her sex life at all. Well, that changes a lot of things doesn't it? I got an extension to my 10-foot pole to be used on those who think they know all the answers to anything.
So, they say one thing, while telling you the other. Just like the rethugs. Enjoyed your post.

they certainly recognize their own kind. Now with this administration it has been so active and vital in their deviousness and blatant filthy anti-life actions that I do believe that anyone who espouses or defends or supports the actions of these very dangerous ones have taken the sign of the beast. They, at least assume, that by doing so they will 'get to buy and sell'. I am glad that they are so dumb and vocal about their support for the anti-life faction, I say keep your lists of these people, shun them. Refuse to do business with anyone who supports these monsters when they come to your county to do their main job which is fundraising. Publicise them-boycott/protest them, they will hate that. It is all about the money honey.

...but don't Democrats ALSO know all these things and yet do little to expose the truth?
- We know why Republicans follow blindly and defend Bush* despite all the evidence. But there's no excuse for the Democrats allowing him to continue on his merry way without at least TRYING to stop him.

23. Democrats follow the lead of the media.... |
|
Generally speaking, there is not a lot of independent thought with Democratic leaders. If the media says that 95% of Americans love Bush, they don't question it. They then make their political decisions around the information that the media has put forth. They need to be more skeptical of what is said on the cable "news". For example, the media might say something like, "Is Hillary making all the presidential candidates look small in stature?" Of course not, but I wonder just how much stock many democrats put into such pronouncements...
