What will be the overall impact of Clark's confrontation with FOX newsman?
Will they be more considerate with their questions in the future or will they connive to destroy him with a thousand cuts? What would happen if another candidate did a similar counter attack on another network, say CNN? would this help or hinder the Party as a whole?

The media bias has gotten so bad that if someone does not call them on it, where does it end? I think this is a good start in our effort to get some real balanced coverage from the cable networks. Clark may not realize the favor he has done for us but he may have gotten the ball rolling.

1. the reality is that you have no other choice with the media
the next guy on MTP should call Russert on his crap...they won't air it becuase it's taped...but after the taping the candidate should share if anything is cut out...or give examples of the "whoring" by Russert

21. Clark whipped a Faux Newsboy's ass when he played word games...
Pure and simple- they won't try that stunt again with Clark.

4. one thing for sure
Bush will never debate Clark. He would get into the ring with the Rock before he gets up on stage with Clark.

Not just Clark, either. All of the candidates have shown themselves eager to slice Bush up big time.

5. You really think this will have a lasting impact?
It's going to be same shit, different day from Faux until they're driven out of business by an angry mob screaming for the head of Roger Ailes. (Now that's a nice image...)

I'm glad Clark stood up to them but I don't think most people will remember it after a couple of weeks.

6. It was edifying to see that by not allowing Fox to talk over him, Clark
was able to make his point....Too many other Democrats fall silent when one of these right wing yappers act up....It was great to see General Clark, speak up and fight back in an intelligent and non-abusive way....He's terrific!!!

He's one of the worst in his obvious bias for Repubs and against Dems.

11. Thousand Cuts, Only Maybe
Clark met the usual Fox sleaze setup and met it hard. I, too, wonder how the media is taking it, but haven't seen anything and haven't been watching that closely.

I don't think Fux will be fucking with a four-star general anytime soon, at least.

It was swell, though. :nuke:

I suspect there is dancing in the streets in some media quarters, just to see Fox News get comeuppance.

Before anybody asks:

You have to get through an ad first and then it's about four minutes of Clark.

12. Clark did quite well, but...
I think that a bet for Fochs and the rest of the bu$hMedia to continue the thousand-cuts method of dealing with all things Democratic is a pretty safe one.

Clark (or any and/or all of the Democratic contenders) could call every damn network out on their bias 24/7 and there would IMO be no change. The nets are content to whore for bu$h even (or maybe especially) when he publicly abuses them.

I don't see them changing until the Fairness Doctrine returns or somebody decides to do some good old Trust Busting on five corporations that control WAY TOO MUCH of everything.

15. You are right but at least Clark refused to be put down and since it was
live (I'm pretty sure)they couldn't edit out his words....Other Democrats should do the same when they are live (esp. on CNN)and set the record straight about misstatements the right wing zealots ascribe to them!...That's about the only way the American viewing public will learn the truth???

16. but it changes it
if the dems do it consistently, then it's different. If every one of their attempts to do the Gore thing again turns into one of these dustups, that's very different than if the dem sits there looking stunned and then maybe complains later.

Because it becomes a matter of credibility, at some point people will start noticing things like the Fox involvement in the Senate filibuster thing.

People will start reluctantly admitting to themselves that they've been had with the whole "liberal media" thing, and then maybe even that they've been had by the republicans in general.

Wishful thinking, I know, but I think it's a pretty decent best case scenario. :-)

13. Look for FAUX to selectively edit this...
They WILL use this, after they have edited it of course, at some later date.

All Dem candidates need to get extremely tough with the whores, because the whores cannot simply ignore them or not give them face time. So everytime they are on, the Dems need to hit HARD, every time.

This is one of the most pivotal moments in our country, and this point needs to be made over and over.

I also think that in addition to hitting this administration hard, the dems need to start rolling out the positives in their campaigns.

14. Roger Ailes is probably advising them at this very moment....
on how to handle this. He will advise them to report on Clark's "anger". They will attempt to use this against him in reports of the next week or two, maybe?

17. Let them do it.
Edited on Tue Nov-18-03 12:30 PM by neuvocat
People are very angry with the way things are right now and if any of the Dem candidates come across as being angry then it will resonate very, very well with people.

I believe that Clark's actions will embolden other dems not to just lie down and take it anymore.

18. Clark walked away from GE Russert unscathed. The
only thing the brain trust at Fox could throw at Clark from that show what "side show." And that was totally contrived. They're in deep doo doo people. But yes, they will continue to try to make Clark pop his cork.
