Do you think Clark was too mean to that Fox news man? |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-18-03 02:06 PM by MIMStigator
What if somebody thinks he had no right to yell at a famous TV news man? What if people say he is insane and should let people say he hates the troops because he DID say he was a democrat and democrats aren't supposed to fight back. !!!
What if.....what if people think he didn't look PRESIDENTIAL because he didn't let them crush him with a boot on his neck? What if people say he's too WEIRD AND CRAZED to have his finger on the button! Oh!! What if they MAKE FUN OF HIM? What if they cluck their tongues and say he has BAD MANNERS!! What if they say it was EMBARRASSING!!!
I'm distressed at what all the THEY'S might think! What if they don't know the right wingers question patriotism of anybody who doesn't salute Bush! They won't understand what Clark was angry about!
Okay so ALMOST EVERYBODY knows what the Fox Assman was doing and knows why Clark was angry but what if there is one voter SOMEWHERE who doesn't know Bush and Fox do this to every person who speaks out against the IRAQ MESS? What will that voter think!!
What if this backfires like all the anti Clarks say! Oh I'm frightened, I'm going to go hide under the bed until it's over!!
Please don't hurt us democrats! We're SORRY a 4 star general who got shot in Vietnam OVER-REACTED when you said he hated the troops!

The reporter interpreted his statement in a sinister way. He had no right to take that interpretation off the bat just like that. I have had enough with Faux News pulling this Gotcha crap and eyebrow treatment of the left-of-center Democrats that go on their show. It is entertainment for them, plain and simple. They just want to build controversy.

16. What I noticed: Assman came right out of the box with "Clinton" |
|
His first question: "Who talked you into running?"
Oooooo. Mysterious. Obviously General Clark could NOT make that decision himself.
Follow up: "Did Bill Clinton have the deciding vote on whether you'd run?"
And then he gets all disingenuous about the "sideshow" remarks. "Just reading your own words back, General."

I believe he used to be an editor for the WSJ. I've seen him, on numerous occasions, come across as totally moronic (to use a professional term, hehe). Even Al Sharpton said to him once, "I love coming on here and talking to you, because you prove my points for me." They were talking about the lack of African American record co. CEO's, v the large number of African American performers, and Asman said something to the effect of: "They have all these LITTLE companies, why are you complaining?" I assume he was referring to Death Row, et al.

he took a line Clark said about the Iraq war being a sideshow and instead of asking him about the very real substance of that idea, he used it to try to make Clark look like he was disrespecting the troops.
Clark instantly went off, telling Asman he should be ashamed of himself, and when Asman tried to defuse it Clark wouldn't let him, he made him pay big time.
There are threads here with video links off the Fox website, I recommend it highly.

I'm a stubborn Deaniac, but Clark is definately my 2nd choice. I was on my feet applauding the television when I saw the interview. My only regret is that he wasn't interviewing with hannity or o'really when it happened.
The exchange was discussed on the abc daily political read (The Note) and I got the impression from reading it that Clark came out on top. This makes me think that the only people who are willing to make Clark look bad from this interview are the idiots over at faux news...they're licking their wounds.
It's about f***ing time a Democrat stands up to fight and defend his/her patriotism. If enough of us do it (both inside and outside the beltway), the neocons won't know what to do.

Clark doing an interview with O'Reilly or Hannity and wiping the floor with them. I wonder if they would ever have the guts NOW to invite the General in for a little chit chat? I somehow doubt it. i didn't see the whole interview so i might change my mind either way if i did see the whole thing.
first, the comment was boneheaded. you don't apply the word sideshow to any place where people are dying. but what i saw of his retort was only a shade heavyhanded.
i would have preferred he just admitted he made a poor choice of words and apologize but such behavior seems to be out of vogue nowadays.

as that the real war on terror is being fought in Afghanistan/Pakistan border regions, and the war in Iraq is a "sideshow" to the war on terror. Still a war nonetheless, one he said was fought for other reasons.
I don't think he was refering to it like it was a sideshow for entertainment or something. I think he did a good job clearing it up too.

No, it wasn't clear. The troops and their families weren't the ones trying to put the screws to him in this interview. And even if Clark had felt the need to apologize to the troops and family, I don't think that the place to do it is on a Fox news program and to a Fox news bonehead. That's exactly the kind of corner those gloating, lying bastards would like to back him in to.

I have in the past had my doubts about Clark, but this was so good I just wanted to yell !
I've been hoping for ages now that the American public wakes up. It looks like Clark has the honest passion to do that.
When it's been so obvious to the entire world that you were all lied to, and when I saw the passions get high here on Du, I kept on wondering when this kind of passion would show on mainstream media.
And Clark did it on FOX, awesome.
And he did it without thinking, without spin, without teleprompter and without MasterAdviserPuppeteer. Imagine !

Clark shows the power of restrained anger. You can see how upset he is, but that he is still holding something in reserve. It's really effective.
Also, his tendency to appear outwardly calm most of the time, helps strengthen the impact of his anger when he expresses it.

what you guys are talking about because I don't watch Faux News, but if Clark stood up for himself and called them out on their bullshit, GOOD FOR HIM!
Kudos Mr. Clark. Take no one's bullshit! Be a fighter. I like that!

That shit-eating Nazi rat of a sorry excuse for a journalist should go to a special wing in hell for suggesting a person can't criticize policy without being unpatriotic - or more specifically being "against" our troops.

His polling numbers just went up. Clark did the right thing. He had every right to be angry and not let Faux twist his words...

and beat Asman senseless. We have really got to quit confusing being a liberal with being a doormat. Maybe we need a 12-step program for BLS--battered liberal syndrome. These guys are bullies--and what bullies understand is refusing to be intimidated by them. Period. If you give any quarter, you've actually encouraged them--or, in psychobabble, enabled them to keep being abusive.
