INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING ABOUT REPUBLICANS, PUNISH THEM!!!

A fiend of mine has started the "Buy nothing on Mondays" movement.

The Buy nothing Monday movement will work this way.

You will tell your friends and family and colleagues who do not use the net, to avoid buying anything on Mondays. You and everyone you speak to will tell their merchants that we do not support the chimp and we're going on a purchasing strike on every Monday until the Nov 2004 election. You also tell them that you hope they will do everything they can to help vote the chimp out and their republican congresspeople out in 2004.

You will tell your friends, family and merchants If the chimp steals another election or somehow wins, you will also avoid purchasing items on Tuesday and this will inflict more punishment on them for not doing enough to unseat the chimp in the 2004 election.

Boycott Arnold's movies (this should be an easy one, since THEY ALL SUCK!), the Viper Car Alarm, Disneyland (this too should be an easy one, since Disney blows) until Arnold resigns leaving Cruz Bustamante to serve as Governor.

Spread the word.

Browse these websites

http://www.schwarzenegger.com and email them from their site that you will not buy nor rent Arnold's crap movies.

http://www.directed.com makers of the Viper Car Alarm once owned by Darrell Issa and email them from their website that you will not buy the Viper Car alarm.

http://www.disneyland.com and email from their website that you will not go to Disney Land (or Disney World...or any of their other lame theme parks).

You will refrain from doing business with these 3 entities until Arnold Schwarzenegger resigns leaving Cruz Bustamante to take office as Governor.

Stop the Republican Texas redistricting effort.

Call JC Penney Corporate Headquarters in Plano, Texas and tell them unless they get Governor Goodhair Perry to stop redistricting until 2010 when it should happen again, you will not set foot in another JC Penney Store again.

Simple.

So let it get written, so let it get done.

1. I wholeheartedly believe in boycotts.
Hit the 'pubs where it will hurt 'em most--in their pocketbooks. If we can get a large movement started on boycotting goods produced by companies that support the Bush regime, I think we could be very effective in the long run. I think we should also consider buying most of our goods second hand, or from locally owned businesses. There are food warehouses that buy out food stocks from the local supermarkets at low prices and sell it cheap. Not everyone is going to go for this, of course, but I think many of us who are really dismayed by the facist, plutocratic corporate oligarchy in this country should seriously consider a boycott.

3. I fail to see how not buying on Mondays
will really matter that much. What people don't buy on Monday they will simply buy on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. You'd need somehow to get people not just to shift when they buy something, but not to buy stuff at all. Refusing to patronize specific vendors makes far more sense. However, Disney gives benefits to same-sex partners, so I hate to see people boycotting them.

A while back there was this move to punish oil companies by not buying their gas on certain days, and it was quite a silly idea. If peoople don't drastically reduce their actual gas consumption by less driving or buying a more fuel-efficient vehicle, just avoiding gas purchases on specific days won't make a difference.

4. well...
...it'll get the attention of the non-political people for one. It's a last-ditch idea, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Disney, aside from giving benefits to same-sex partners, is otherwise completely rightwing. Ask Lynn Samuels! Funny how those "budget cuts" in radio seem to ONLY fall on the LEFT, ain't it?

You mentioned something I've been TRYING like a bastard to get going again, and that is A GAS-OUT WEEKEND. (The last one I recall was in 2000, and it lasted from a Friday thru to Sunday.) I just don't get it, why in the HELL has NO ONE picked up on this idea and organized it? I would gladly, if I didn't happen to be one of the 8 or 9 Americans who somehow still has a job!!!!! And I tell you this much, of EVERY LAST person who has come into my work and mentioned "President" Bozo, NONE of them has had ONE SINGLE GOOD THING TO SAY ABOUT MR. WHISTLE ASS. The tide is turning, and we need to make DAMN sure IT STAYS THAT WAY!

Lu Cifer, I fart in republiKKKans' general direction...be glad I don't have a match handy!

6. I like the idea
of targeting specific stores more. We should find stores that do a decent job and support those. We could also start supporting local farmers more instead of regular grocery chains. There are farmer's markets around and they could use the support.

Kind of like the "floggings will continue until morale improves" works.
