say America "protected" the rest of the world against the atomic bomb threat (I know people in Germany that will tell you that United States prevented Europeans from making themselves able to defend their countries or contribute with weapon design or plane design or anything that would thwart American's hegemony.
As a matter of fact, it has not been publicized in the States at all, but the Europeans wanted to establish their own GPS program because the US blocks Europe whenever is not convenient to allow them in. Well, the US said "NO" that is a threat to our security and if you establish it we will destroy it whenever we think it is a threat to US security--to be determined by us whenever this is the case). Europeans are proceeding with it anyway.
I think it was a good speech, playing with sound bites and smoke and mirrors. Americans will lap it up because we love the heroic image of ourselves.
