Purple Pharmaceuticles
Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 01:40 PM by donsu
today my Weather Bug was covered with purple capsules and a screaming headline - Ask Your Doctor About The Purple Pill - (Nexium)

excuse me while I throw up

The pharm corp. own us - shape our moods - cure or not our ills

and our doctors are co-dependents

on edit added corp.

3. Like icicals and testicals
pharmaceuticals ends in als ;-)

I have always been leery of mainstream pharm drugging, because I doubt the motivations of those companies. Outside of ibuprofen and aspirin, I hardly ever take pills. When I have a cold, it's OJ and lots of liquids...no pills that will help me, because I find that they usually don't.

Couldn't function without it. As much as it pains me to admit it, that little pill DOES own me!

8. yes!
I think Canada is right-on in terms of their prescription drug policy.

Did you guys know that US Pharmaceutical Companies make the same drugs in different shapes and colors so they know which pills to sell for a higher price in the US than the (same) lower priced pills to Canada/Mexico/the rest of the world? Why is this legal?

10. I applaud that, but don't see why they shouldn't ban them all
"My aspirin is better than your aspirin!"

"Well, my aspirin is cheap"

Can't we leave products that directly affect people's health in the realm of the un-commercialized?

7. I agree that the marketing is out of hand
and the drug companies spend way too much on it. But before this thread turns into the inevitable "Pharm companies are evil and support Repubs" kind of thread, keep in mind that many people could live without oil, or television, and so on, but not medicine. They may be slimy, but they do, at least, provide something that people desperately need.

16. This just underlines how unethical they are
How much of their budget is spent on advertising? I can't remember the amount but it's disgusting, especially when you consider their spin for why they need to soak people for profits is so they can do research and development. A lot of their 'new products' are simply old products with very minor changes.

Gee now I feel sick. :puke:

Also, I should point out that it's definitely not the companies that are evil, it's the people running them.

I have nothing against the people who manufacture them, deliver them, etc. -- it's the executives in the boardroom who deserve to lose their jobs.

15. Powell spilled the beans in an interview
Here's the link to it:
http://usinfo.state.gov/topical/pol/terror/texts/03110700.htm

Question: So do you use sleeping tablets to organize yourself?

Secretary Powell: Yes. Well, I wouldn't call them that. They're a wonderful medication -- not medication. How would you call it? They're called ambien, which is very good. You don't use ambien? Everybody here uses ambien.

As more than one commentary on this revelation noted, "That explains a lot."

But remember, according to Powell, they aren't sleeping tablets, and they aren't medication. Perhaps he considers them 'snacks'....

12. I took Nexium once for acid reflux
Damn, that stuff worked great.
And the best part was my doctor told me "the stuff's too expensive, so have six weeks worth of samples". Free. He handed me the six bottles in a paper bag. I felt like I was "getting my fix" like Limbaugh or something.
