will be some attacks. Just make sure you keep it in perspective and civil. Wes Clark is our candidate he has class and we should represent him as such.

Who will be on to watch and field the attacks after the broadcast...I will anyone else available?

13. Very good point
I have always been close to deciding for Clark and for some stupid reason (I admit it) I let some people on this board and others I know supporting Clark trip my trigger and I put it off. I know that the candidate is more than their supporters, but I'm human and make unfair connections that's more psychological than anything. I know it's ridiculous, but that's what has happened. I like Clark a lot and was impressed with his defense of himself on Fox the other night. I was glad to follow the link here from DU and watch that.......good stuff.

16. It can be hard, can't it?
sometimes I find myself being turned off to Dean, just because of the few absolute snots who make all attempts to trash Clark, even when it isn't even relevant to the conversation. I just keep trying to remind myself that it's not Dean doing the trashing, it's just a few morons.

Believe me, I have seen Clark baited time and time again, and he does NOT trash his opponents in the Democratic Party. Now, ask him about bush, and he'll be perfectly forthcoming with his opinions. I just feel that Clark has been exemplary in taking the high road, and I wish that all of the other Democrats would see fit to follow suit. :grouphug: Regardless of who gets the nomination (Clark, of course), we'll have a tough mission ahead, and destroying our fellow Democrats before we even get there will lead us only into another four+ years of unbelievable hell.

14. I've seen him teary a couple of times
One was at the NH town hall meeting, when the woman was telling him about having been sexually abused when she served in the military. He got teary, apologized to her, saying that he was in a leadership capacity at the time, and that he and others should have done more, and asked her to meet with him after the meeting.

I then heard from someone who was there that he met in private with her for 20 minutes after the meeting was over. I hope it was healing for her, because she obviously is still haunted by whatever happened at that time.

He is obviously so sincere and compassionate... and get this, he's capable of apologizing, too! What a concept!

Clark: "George Bush was an unlearned, unexperienced man when elected. This moment could be a Golden Moment for America."

It was so moving to watch him visit those snowy graves on Veterans Day, too...

Nice to see that he likes a frosty Sam Adams too; now here's a man I can get behind!! Who were those kind folk in the white uniforms??

I loved the push-up display, too!!! What a stud... :D

Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 08:34 PM by BullGooseLoony
He needs a good answer for it.

On edit: The real, correct answer is that the Bush administration was the administration carrying out the Iraq war. I'm not sure if he can say that, though.

68. The question is whether
or not you can say that Saddam was engaged in ethnic cleansing. When he gased the Kurds the case could have been made if we had gone to war then. I don't think the evidence shows that Saddam as of 2002-2003 was engaged in ethnic cleansing.

70. Here's the answer
The ethnic cleansing that took place in Iraq took place with the tacit assistance of the United States in and then there's this little photo

Besides, if asked, Clark can always point out that Powell himself went before the UN to argue that SANCTIONS WERE WORKING to contain Saddam and that they were effective in controlling him. Clearly force was not justified.

Clark witnessed the spectacle of death with his own eyes. He ddi not make rash decisions based on cherry picked "intelligence".

74. Bush will argue back
Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 10:22 PM by BullGooseLoony
that the past policy of allowing Saddam to kill his own people doesn't make it alright to allow it to keep happening- especially while Clark is talking about how Kosovo was so horrible. Keep in mind the comparison that is being made, here.

It also doesn't really help to say that Saddam wasn't actively engaging in genocide at the time (of course he was still killing people, probably, just not as widespread as he had in the past). Bush will just come up with the numbers in the 100's of thousands that freepers typically bring up, and hide behind those in his opportunism, like he is now. No one is going to buy that suddenly Saddam has become a good guy.

We have to attack the Bush administration ITSELF as the executors of the war. We have to show that while they may have SAID that they cared about helping the Iraqis, in reality all they wanted to do was get cheap oil contracts for their buddies, and that, in fact, a sincere effort to help the Iraqis, which would have included a post-war plan, would have been more effective for both the Iraqis and for our own national security. We have to push that the Bushees were just the wrong people for the job- and that our American soldiers are dying, and we're spending hundreds of billions of dollars, NOT FOR A NOBLE CAUSE, BUT FOR BUSH'S CORPORATE BUDDIES. It's our only real shot.

The truth is that, for myself, if Clinton had said that he'd had enough of Saddam, and wanted to invade Iraq, I would have been hesitant due to the prospect of getting bogged-down in another Vietnam (and the innocents that would be killed), but I would have supported the war much more just knowing that Clinton's aim was to actually help the Iraqi people. We have to show that Bush was not working in the same good faith as Clinton, and THAT is why the Kosovo war was right, and THIS war was wrong. We have to work on Bush's motives and insincerity.

I must differ with any who say it was softball. Rather brought up every little negative press angle that's been floated over the last two months.

Clark did fine. But I liked the MTP interview better. As far as the sensitive General angle I already new he was real and not afraid to show it. That's the #1 reason he is the right man for the job.

73. Especially liked this quote
"The last time I checked, the Constitution didn't say that we should spend our democracy for war. Now in Rome they did that. In ancient Rome, they appointed a dictator and they suspended democracy when the Roman Republic was in danger. And they eventually ended up with a permanent dictator through that process."

66. That Boy was HOT !!!
He gave us the "man in uniform", the "practical intellect" the "sensitive, Alan Alda side" ... (but not TOOOOOOOOO sensitive), and topped it off with a little "cheese cake" for the ladies ....

And he dropped another 'bombshell nugget' to keep the media coming back to ask more questions... (remember the - "they have no oil in Kosovo" remark ? ).... That will be good for more media play. The man is shrewd, brilliant. Do we deserve him ? You bet ....

I'm swooning .... He's the man.

Woo Hoo ! :bounce:

69. That interview was fantastic!
He touches my heart. He's the real deal. He's not a liar, he cares about people and I would trust that man with my life. He must be our president. THIS is the man the WH FEARS!

Now, can't WAIT to see him on Letterman tomorrow! A comedic atmosphere? If he has a wonderful sense of humor? I'm all his! That will do me in! :loveya:

72. Very Presidential
I just wish he didnt have to beat Dean, because I like Dean. But the General has to do what the General has to do.
