I just wrote to my Senator on the Energy legislation
There are the Senators that are unsure or have decided already (Taken from DailyKos)

DEMOCRATS FOR THE BILL
Daschle (SD)
Dorgan (ND)
Landrieu (LA)
Lincoln (AK)
Miller (GA)
Reid (NV)

Probable "yes" Dem votes:
Akaka (HI)
Breaux (LA)
Harkin (IA)
Inouye (HI)

REPUBLICANS AGAINST THE BILL
Chafee (RI)
Collins (ME)
Gregg (NH)
Kyl (AZ)
McCain (AZ)
Snowe (ME)
Sununu (NH)

Leaning "no" GOP votes:
Alexander (TN)

I didn't know that BOTH of my Senators were swing voters. I would have expected them to vote against it, but now, they are swing votes. So now, I am launching a lobbying blitz against their offices. I am totally suprised. I thought about why they would vote for it and then I realized that there is a bill they really want passed by the Congress. A senator has placed an anonymous hold on it. I think that senator is trying to blackmail them.

Here is my letter to Sen. Akaka
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Dear Sen. Akaka,

I have held you in highest regard. As a native Hawaiian, I thank you for your ardent support of the Akaka legislation. I also thank you for being a positive role model for other Hawaiians as well.

However, there is a bill coming up in the Senate that will determine the future of the global environment. The US is already one of the largest polluters in the world and we have not enacted any significante reforms under the Bush administration. China has a better environmental record. We the United States should be at the forefront of environmental reform.

Native Hawaiians have always respected the environment. We understand that the aina is of such cherished value and should be taken care of. Respect for the land is engrained in our state motto, 'Ua mau ke 'ea 'o ka 'aina i ka pono', The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness. Tending to the land is a part of who we are. I hope that you decide in good conscience and vote against this corporate welfare energy legislation.

Aloha no,

1. I wonder if we could pressure Specter (R-PA)?
Pennsylvania is a coal state, but it is also an Eastern, rained on by acid-rain state.

2. I certainly hope
Harkin doesn't vote for this POS. He is one of the few I still have respect for. Call or email today!
