How much Michael Jackson are we going to have to put up with on TV? |
|
I realize that this is a newsworthy story and all, but we've got real issues that need to be dealt with and discussed. Last night's Hardball was all MJ. Bombings in Turkey, protests in Miami and London and Iraq, Syria et al and we've got to watch planes land all day because Michael may be on one of them?

Celebrity scandals have ALWAYS been sensationalized, and always will be. Like it or not, people are interested in it.
This is nothing new. A century ago, newspapers reveled in such stuff.
I'd like to see an experiment: put out two copies of a paper. One of which has Michael Jackson in handcuffs and the head line "King of Pop Arrested on Child Sex Charge" and another one with a picture of Bush and a headline "Protests Mar London Visit" and see which one sells more.
I bet it'll be the first one.

4. Don't cause waves, Fuzz! |

After all, MJ's arrest is FAR more important than
1) the failed global war against criminal terror thugs making believe they're pious Muslims
2) protesters in London (and Miami) telling BushCo that he is the most reviled president in most people's lifetimes
3) all that "good news" about assassinations and improvised explosives in Iraq
4) where's Osama? where's Saddam? for that matter, where's Cheney?
5) the sellout of the AARP to the GOP and the phony Medicare "reform" bill
6) more corporate welfare for polluters
... so don't rock the boat, buster!

Of course we wish there was real news on but for me, there is no real news on TV anymore. Even on The News Hour the other night they were reporting on the fact that there will be many protestors when Bush arrives but the commentator said that the majority of Britons welcome the visit!
You either get tabloid news or wing nut propaganda. Not worth watching I say.

9. I heard some reporter talking about a UK poll |
|
He said, "An overwhelming majority, 43%, support President Bush in the War on Terror."
To paraphrase Linda Richman: 43% is neither overwhelming, nor a majority. Discuss.

Through the 2007 (appeals included). Sadly this loser freak inspires the American people to be glued to their tv sets. And it's crap like this that makes Joe Lieberman right about what's on TV.
Though, the National Enquierer claimed last week that Jacko was close to death because of complications from plastic surgery. They were right about Rush...
I suggest doing this instead: staying the hell away from cable news...watch only PBS and C-Span. Eventually they'll get the me$$age.

is for each story that they decide to focus on for months on end has it's own theme music..you can tell by listening to the music they are playing what story they are about to cover! i got so sick of hearing diana'a theme song! the cable news channels really do squander a wonderful opportunity for real investigative journalism
