"JACKO-Gate" Has Officially Put Me Over The Edge |
|
yes, that is actually what my LOCAL "news" called it this evening.
i am so disgusted by my "media" coverage of "world events". my mental state is crumbleing rapidly. i simply can't take it anymore.
Yes, for ONE HOUR a night, i get "NEWS" from BBC America (although i also know some of THAT is filtered." I simply am rapidly running out of steam here.

It's been a tragic day for the American news media. Shame!!!!!
I have been pleased that ABC's World News Tonight didn't mention the Jacko "story" until a full 14 minutes into the program.
Keep hope alive!!

Peter Jennings email that is sent out announcing what stories are going to be covered came with the the subject line "Jackson Taken Into Custody".
I was pretty ticked and sent off an email to them.

didn't miss that. Saw LOTS of coverage on it both on CNN and on the web.
Oh, and a pop star got arrested, too.
Covering one doesn't preclude covering the other. We had hours of the Istanbul story. If there were new information to come forward, I presume the networks would cover it.

22. the point is 3+ hours was WAY overkill |
|
there was NO news an accused pedophile turned himself in and was released on bail.
it's a celeb, so you report it. but NOT continuous no-news coverage for HOURS when there are legitimate stories deserving MORE time

5. Boy, do I agree, matcom. |

We didn't even get to see Crossfire tonight. We did get to see a bunch of cars riding down the highway though. I had to turn it off. I called my cousin and told her that something was wrong with my TV. She asked me what? I said there's nothing on it except Michael Jackson. She said the same thing was happening on her TV, too.

8. Days like this are when I appreciate NPR |
|
As is appropriate, the lead story on NPR is the Turkey bombing. At least NPR has "mature" editors and isn't compelled to go with the "glam" stories.

15. Orchestrated conspiracy? No. Media conspiracy? Yes. |
|
I don't believe that the incident with jackson was deliberately orchestrated, so I disagree with anyone saying that.
However I do believe that the media deliberately focuses attention on this issue to defer attention for otherissues, so anyone who is saying that I agree with.

16. I was relieved when ABC News put Jack-o late in their broadcast |
|
They showed the Bush protestors in London, including the toppling of the Bush statue, and only did a short headliner piece on MJ.

a friend told me about digital cable. I had no clue! I can now get BBC America, although I have only seen the news on at 8:00 am, the rest is goofy home shows, it is most fulfilling! The coverage this morning after the Turkey bombing was fantastic! Makes up for a whole day of CRAP on US Corporate Whore 24/7 Media!

and get the dish. Then you not only get BBC but Free Speech TV and Link, both of which are liberal and tell the truth. We get all you can get on digi cable for $60.00/mo. And you never have to hear those dumbass 'cable is better than dish' commercials ever again. (Lyin' bastards.)
p.s. Direct tv or Dish network? Rupert Murdoch is trying to buy Direct tv so that is enough for me to stick with Dish network.

26. 11/20/2003 is a new benchmark low |
|
i'll never forget this day:
- i work at home doing med. trans. and my cable modem kept going out and i lost a ton of work by an asshole mumbling doc that i had to do over again.
- nonstop telemarketers all day interrupting
- what should have been one of the fullest news days we've ever had and all we get is MICHAEL JACKSON - EVERYWHERE!!!!!! where's the media self-respect????? are we in the twilight zone? Rod Sterling couldn't have written a better show. people being killed all over the world - cops beating protesters - 300,000 protesters in London - and we get MICHAEL JACKSON!!!! this has to have been staged.
I'm truly certifiable right now. where's that red stripe???????
