A doctor asked me today about the election next year. |

I was leaving the office, and she stopped me to ask. She is very concerned about things, sad that she can not go home to her native Philippines to check on her property there without being secretive. They can not appear to be American.
I told her we were supporting Howard Dean, and mentioned a few of his views. She asked how he felt about the company CEOs and the way they were getting away with so much. I explained the best I could. There is a slight language barrier but not too bad.
She said you know they are trying to pull some fast stuff on us here about the utilities. She brought up regulation to prevent some of that. I said Dean used to think it was ok to deregulate. I said he lately has been saying that he saw that some of the deregulation was hurting our country, and he was rethinking his stance about it. I said does that bother you.
She said it did not bother her. She said if things are not working and should be fixed, a person should be willing to change. It surprised me, as this was a lady who voted for Bush for one reason....his opposition to abortion. She is scared now for this country, and she been reading a lot about parallels in her country....things she never knew about.
She said it would bother her more if he were such an ideologue that he would not adjust his thinking. I told her thanks, because I was wondering how folks would feel.
She said she will never again vote for anyone just for one issue. She and many of her doctor friends who supported Jeb so greatly are turning now. That is a good thing.
I am not posting this against another candidate. I am showing that if you ask someone properly how they feel about a change in stances, you might be surprised.

2. My doctor is supporting Dean. |
|
He says that the current health-care system is 'irretrievably broken' and that, having studied the various candidates' health plans, Dean's is 'the only one that substantively addresses the problems in a realistic way', and is the only one he believes stands a chance of passage in Congress.

4. the Repubs will fight tooth and nail to stop any sort of public healthcare |
|
..living in a country with socialized medecine, and Canadians will agree..good public healthcare is one of the most frightening things to the Republicans. Once it is in, even the most conservative people begin to realize what a great thing it is and how they can't do without it. That's why it is an issue that will win votes.

6. Yes, they will fight it. |
|
Once it passed, and the actual cost of health-care decreased (as well as workmen's comp, etc.), people would next begin to question the Repuke CW about a LOT of other issues.

7. Malpractice insurance rates... |
|
they were convinced that "trial lawyers" were responsible for high insurance rates when it was the downturn in the markets that caused the insurance companies to come up short and thus raise the rates.

8. I could not believe how STUPID the doctors in Florida are |
|
all they wanted to cap payouts in civil suits, BUT not one insurance company would say 100%, if you cap the payout, WE WILL REDUCE your insurance.
The Doctors fell for the Insurance lies, hook line and sinker.
