The man tried to murder the president, an elected president back when we had those things. I don't care if he claims he's nuts; he's just lucky not to have fried. He needs to grow old in his incarceration, not get put out into decent society.

If he was so "around-the-bend" that he didn't know it was wrong to shoot a hole in James Brady, then how come he was still rational enough to stalk his target, pick an ideal ambush location, evade the security perimeter, and attack at the perfect time? Crazy, my ass. He was a sociopath, but hardly incapable of thinking logicly.

He is guilty of a premeditated attack by gunshot on the president and several other men, who were seriously wounded, including a severe life-altering head wound. He then got away with his crime by playing the rich family connections card. If he is "cured" of his insanity, it is time for him to pay for his crime in prison.
