Will Pitt: nice article today.....
...it reminded me about how i felt as i watched cnn yesterday afternoon. i felt the need to let judy woodruff know, so i sent her this email just now:

*****************************************************************
Hi Judy,

During my break at work yesterday, I watched your program on CNN. Although I normally don't like your political commentary that seems to be slanted toward the right (like the majority of the corporate owned media), I must admit you did a fine job reporting on the Michael Jackson saga. Unfortunately, most of us here in the real world are more concerned with getting the truth about more important matters, such as getting to the bottom of what really happened in the days and months preceeding 911, black box voting and the republican owned Dieboldt and ESS, the outing of a CIA agent by the Bush administration as political revenge for leaking the truth to the public, the real reasons surrounding the Iraq invasion...you get the idea.

Anyway, the reason I'm writing to you about this is because I saw this article by William Pitt (journalist and New York Times best selling author) and it reminded me of how I felt as I watched your program yesterday. Please click on the link and read this article.

Maybe you could check out some of the other things Mr. Pitt has written, including some of his excellent books on the Bush administration and the Iraq invasion. In fact, many of us out here would love to see you invite Mr. Pitt on your show. I know that he would be happy to talk about so many of the things that most TV journalists are either afraid or unable to report.

Thank you,
X. XXXXXXXXX

1. Even better letter...don't let CNN off the hook
I castigated them a couple of weeks ago for "providing" stupid questions for some of the rock the vote audience

3. nice
Good letter and a great article. I get very upset with 'All Laci All the Time'... it's a sad story and she has a great smile, but it doesn't amount to a hill of beans in the grand scheme of things. Why not the other hundreds of murders out there?

4. Damn!
Thanks! I met a former CNN staffer in Indiana who read my book. She got to the part about the polls getting freeped, photocopied it, and dropped it in Judy's mailbox. I think maybe she's getting sick of me. :)

6. You rule!
I wish you the best of luck and I plan to buy your book next month. You should try to get on the Daily Show. Jon would love you, especially after having to listen to so much rw drivel.

8. It is more than a bit ironic . .
Edited on Fri Nov-21-03 02:48 PM by msmcghee
. . that some of the same people who have signed your pledge to not post any threads about Michael Jackson . .

. . are now complimenting you on your article in ThruthOut about . . . Michael Jackson.

It is a good article. But what you say about the media coverage - is just one level of the Michael Jackson story that deserves comment. There are several.

Rather than encourage censorship of such coverage at DU - wouldn't it be more useful to find those aspects of the story that are relevant, like you did here - and bring them up when those threads stray into tabloidism?

On edit: Ooops, sorry Melodybe. I meant to address this to Will.
