GOP runs ad impugning Democrats' patriotism. MoveOn to answer.
This is a repost due to an error on my part. I apologize. Please repost your responses.

To view the ad, go to: http://www.rnc.org/Newsroom/RNCResearch/Reality.htm

You can go to https://www.moveonvoterfund.org/ to help with ad to rebut this cowardly crap from the GOP.

Script
Title: "Reality"
Time: 30 Seconds

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: "It would take one vial, one canister, one crate slipped into this country to bring a day of horror like none we have ever known."
CHYRON: Strong and Principled Leadership
PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: "Our war against terror is a contest of will in which perseverance is power."
CHYRON: Some are now attacking the President for attacking the terrorists.
PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: "Some have said we must not act until the threat is imminent.  Since when have terrorists and tyrants announced their intentions, politely putting us on notice before they strike?"
CHYRON: Some call for us to retreat, putting our national security in the hands of others.
CHYRON: Call Congress Now

from any involvement in the production. Sly bastards.

If MoveOn can counter this, count me in.

2. Nothing gets me madder...
Than this crap. Bush the uniter. What a joke. For as long as I can remember and that's 40+ years, Republicans have had this holier-than-thou attitude that only they are the true patriots and that everyone else is a terrorist-sympathizer, flag-burner at best (used to be communist-sympathizer).

Look what these slime did to Max Cleland.

I'd love to see Wesley Clark and Kerry talk about true patriotism and show these chicken-hawk cowards for the political, power-hungry, lying bastards that they are.

5. I'd love to see something like this
When John Kerry was fighting in Viet Nam, Where were you Tom Delay?

When John McCain was a POW, where were you Dick Cheney?

When Wesley Clark was leading men in battle, where were you George Bush?

6. Why do you think Ed Gillspie's face appears at the end of the ad?
He and the GOP are the bad guys and Chimpy comes out smelling like a rose.

3. Iowans aren't stupid! I think this will work against Bush.
They're not happy about having their boys die on foreign soil for:
a. Weapons of Mass Destruction
b. Bring democracy to Iraq
c. Getting rid of Saddam (he's still alive?)
d. Punish Al Queda (which wasn't there)

Bush and the Republicans may have played the false "patriotism card" once too often.

11. Didn't MoveOn just get a huge grant* from Soros?
Not to discourage populist politics, y'understand, but maybe the candidates could use the financial support more...

* Freeps would say "...a hugh grant..."

16. Soros will match donations, i.e., for $50 donation, Soros donates $75.
Edited on Fri Nov-21-03 03:41 PM by flpoljunkie
It is an incentive to get MoveOn members to donate.

13. explain further please
I did not watch the ad but on reading the script you enclosed I can't see anything that impugnes anyone's patriotism. Could you please explain how the ad does so? I can see it questioning other's judgement but I see nothing in the script questioning motives.

18. Surely you are not serious.

No Presidential candidate is attacking him for "attacking the terrorists". But you can bet the MoveOn.org ad will point out that by electing for war in Iraq, he has made us far less safe. The war in Iraq has been a major distraction from the real war on terror--the hunt for Osama bin Lade, or Osama Been Forgotten" as my Senator Bob Graham likes to say.

And no one has called for retreat, either--or suggested than any one other than the United States should be in charge of the security in Iraq. Bush pulled intelligence assets out of Afghanistan and sent them to Iraq. This was a major mistake. Bush has indeed "whacked the hornest's nest" in the Middle East--a quote from none other than John Kerry.
