Wow! Did you just see Senator Byrd? Amazing!

He just gave a speech on the Senate floor about Thanksgiving. He talked about how the Foubnding Fathers gave thanks to God (if there is one - which I believe there is), and he quoted Thanksgiving Day proclamations from FDR, Lincoln, and Eisenhower.

At the end, he said something like, "I'm off to have Thanksgiving dinner with my wife, my daughters, their husbands, my grandchildren, their spouses, and great-grandchildren."

"Happy Thanksgiving!" he exclaimed, with relative enthusiasm.

...then I posted when he disparaged atheists. "Who cares?" he said. Maybe I shouldn't have entitled the thread "Holy crap!"

It's nowhere to be found now.

I always thought Byrd was admirable, but now he's wearing a leopard-skin vest and putting down those of us who don't believe in his God.

He seems to have gone though a dramatic change of wardrobe lately, both literally and politically. But then, maybe he's just in a foul mood.
