What are the features of martial law/military dictatorship?
martial law as it would apply in America...since this Franks comment is all over the place.

that would be all the FEMA rules about confiscating, sending people to work for the govt whereever, your money is their money...what else am I missing?

as far as military dictatorship, that makes me think of Pinochet and all the people he killed who opposed him.

but what would an American military dictatorship look like, I wonder?

what would you imagine that would be like? how would travel be affected, if, for instance, you wanted to visit relatives who were out of the country?

should we all be hoarding seeds for our military dictatorship victory over us gardens?

1. They can do anything

They can seize property and execute people and anything else they want. There really are exact rules, but since someone can change the rules, there are no rules. You could be ordered to do anything like work at a job you do not want 60 hours a week without overtime at wages on par with Mexico. Wait a minute, that happens when the Family Leave Flexibility Act is passed and NAFTA.

3. saw that one a while back
but I wonder if anyone here has ever lived under such a situation.

is Gen M. in Pakistan considered a military dictator?

is Castro? --or does he just get to wear the uniform?

what was Turkey like not so long ago?

how would something like this be set in place? I mean, if there were a major attack, which would have to be a major city, how would this "transition" take place?

would the announcement of martial law by a president mean that this is in place?

what does a military dictatorship mean? sorry to be so dumb, but does that mean that congress is suspended and sent home, or does that mean they operate in some sort of way...rubber stamp, maybe? for whatever the country's leader in such a situation would decree?

does the "president" then serve at the descretion of the joint chiefs?
