How did the Senate session end today? I missed it.
I switched over to the UW football game for a couple minutes and when I went back, a rerun of Al Franken's talk at UMissouri was on. That was fine, but what happened with the Senate? I think Grassley was talking when I turned it off. Boxer was so good before him.

I'm trying to figure out -- what happens next?

1. not sure
not sure how today's session ended, but there will be more open debate on the (anti) medicare bill sunday and part of monday. i believe a cloture vote is scheduled for monday. but as people have posted here a filibuster is being considered by a few.

2. Well, they wouldn't need a cloture vote w/o a filibuster
I guess I will just tune in tomorrow and find out.

In the meantime, we need to get more Dems in line to back the filibuster! Or Republicans, for that matter!

This bill must NOT be passed!

5. There was no cloture vote
today. Bill Frist made the motion to have a cloture vote today. He said that Ted Kennedy said he would fillibuster, so he was scheduling the cloture vote. Harry Reid said they would start early today, but I don't know what time. I'll have to check the c-span schedule. Harry Reid also said he has 15 speakers lined up for today, with a 1/2 hour speaking time each. I do believe that Kennedy is among them.

Harry Reid also warned Frist that they'd better get this done before Thanksgiving, because if they have to come in after Thanksgiving, they would be in no mood to compromise.
