TBTM - Guy James. Don't blame Guy!

Hey, DUers,

I got an email this morning regarding our no-show on the Guy James Show yesterday. I'm still half-asleep and can't find the thread, so I just wanted to post this here.

I'm told that Guy is taking flak for our not appearing on the show, and that is just not right. Due to the fact that Sym and I had never produced a live show before, we got caught up in production and, as a result, did not get to place the call to Guy.

This is not Guy's fault. This is TBTM's fault, and on behalf of all of us at TBTM, I would like to publicly and sincerely apologize to all at the Guy James Show, especially Guy himself. He was doing a gracious thing in trying to help two guys who are lower on the radio food chain than he is, and we sincerely appreciate it. We regret that in the hoopla of trying to do what Guy does on a regular and professional basis, we did not make the call as it was arranged.

If you want to direct disappointment toward anyone about this situation, point it here. Guy James is not at fault.

I do have to admit that I was disappointed that you and Symbolman were not able to make contact with Guy during his show. However, I don't think we need to "blame" anyone at all since doing live radio is difficult enough as it is. Technical difficulties are common and to be expected. Congratulations to you and Symbolman on your first live show together. I assume you will have a live internet stream in the future that will be linked to your TBTM website?

and proposed this TBTM/TGJS team-up, I too was disappointed that it didn't work out. but, I was more disappointed to hear that some listeners felt that Guy had somehow 'deceived' them.

he deserves better than that.

8. It was pretty weird...

When you add it all up - first time TBTM East and West had hooked up, first live show we'd ever done, hustling in and out of the performance space, having a video cam hovering in our faces much of the time....

Right now, it's a blur. And to top it off, my fiance was called this morning about some switch problems at her company's data center (she's an IT big-brain), and to fix it she had to run out to Jersey with her laptop - which contains the audio files for the show, which I only heard about 20 seconds of last night.

We had some good appetizers and lots of beer after wrapping the show last night. Thanks to Nostamj and everyone else for coming out and helping us ring up huge drink tabs in a couple of different NYC drinking establishments. :)

I was stunned to get Guy's PM

the very IDEA that he would 'deceive' or 'overhype' are SO utterly ridiculous.

I can't understand why anyone who make that leap.

a THOUSAND things could have happened to interrupt that call, from terrorist attack in midtown to a dead cell phone battery.

to THINK that something dishonest was going on????????

I didn't get to hear Saturday's show; I wasn't home in time here on the left coast.

It wouldn't have mattered. I might have looked forward to a particular guest, but I haven't tuned in or supported the show for the chance to hear specific speakers. I'm there to hear the voice of the rest of America; "all that's left..." streaming across the nation.

Whether a particular guest is there or not on any given Saturday is a side issue.

I'm sorry I missed the show.
