GOP fiscal irresponsibility as a campaign theme? |
|
The GOP controls the Executive.
The GOP controls the House of Representatives.
The GOP controls the Senate.
The GOP controls the Supreme Court.
The GOP owns the media (100% total, lock stock and barrel).
The deficit is out of control, saddling two generations to come with stifling debt.
There is no reasonable way to blame the Democrats.
The centerpieces of the Repug legislative agenda: the prescription drug (oh and by the way, kill Medicare) bill; the energy (or is that welfare for oil, coal and electric utility companies?) bill; the tax cuts for the wealthy; and "homeland security" (don't even get me started on what that one is really about) are so absurdly expensive, vaccuous, and laden with special interest pork that is should put FOREVER to rest the fallacy that Republicans are fiscally responsible.
Why doesn't this resonate with the American voter? I find it hard to believe that the core of America is not outraged over this rabsurdly gluttonous orgy at the public trough.
Can GOP fiscal irresponsibility be useful as a campaign theme?
