NY POST picks up Clark's statement on Bush alcoholism/marriage
WES DIGS UP BUSH'S BATTLE WITH BOTTLE

By VINCENT MORRIS

November 24, 2003 -- WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential wannabe Gen. Wesley Clark said yesterday that Americans admire President Bush because of the way he overcame "alcoholism" and salvaged his marriage by sobering up.

The blunt comments from Clark on a seldom-raised subject came as he tried to explain his dismay with Bush's re-election strategy - which critics say exploits lingering 9/11 fears.

I really hope the GOP complains about this. . .I dare them to!

1. Brilliant. He raised the drinking issue in the form of a compliment.
Smart guy, Wes.

11. Damn straight; that's political savvy
Gotta quibble with your equation in your sig line, though: Lyndon Baines Johnson may have been a rotter in many ways, but he gave a fuck about the poor and downtrodden and he had real vision beyond just the obvious circuitry advantage over dim son.

9. Even with all the snide remarks in this article, ie "digs up" and
"presidential wannabe", the issue of Bush's past is front and center again, gotta love that!

10. This is too good
If they hammer Clark for mentioning it he has so much ammuntion he can defend himself for. He could bring up integrity and character, if Sheldon can bring up his integrity and character then why should they not bring up *'s. Also opens the door as to why he did not take his flight physical which is why he was banned from flying. Tooooooo goooood

12. Clark needs to find a way to bring up the AWOL issue over and over.
In a similar fashion, where they can't really respond because it is the truth and anything they say will bring more attention to the issue.

Come to think of it that's what they do now.

14. AWOL
I'm sure he's thought about it; and it must piss him off. But the best way would be from a third party. Now who can do the deed?
