Do I smell a Dean/Graham ticket brewing? You bet.

Gwen Graham Logan Joins Dean for America
BURLINGTON--Democratic presidential candidate Governor Howard Dean, M.D., announced today that Gwen Graham Logan has joined the Dean for America campaign as National Surrogate and Southern Regional Advisor. As a surrogate, Graham Logan will speak on behalf of Governor Dean throughout the country. She will also assist the campaign in the South, including her native Florida.
Graham Logan is the eldest daughter of United States Senator and former presidential candidate Bob Graham.
"While campaigning for my father, I got the opportunity to know Governor Dean. I believe in him and his message of hope and change. This campaign is not about one person, one interest or one policy; it is about empowering the American people to take back this country for themselves. I am proud to join the Dean for America team on behalf of that effort," Graham Logan said.
"I am pleased that Gwen has joined my campaign, and that she will be working on our behalf across the country. Her good judgment and unique insights into presidential campaigns will be invaluable in the weeks and months ahead," Governor Dean said.
Graham Logan is an attorney and mother of three. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Washington College of Law at American University.

1. "This campaign is not about one person, one interest or one policy..." |
|
That's what Dean critics totally miss.
I'm sick of other candidates telling me they're ready to be my LEADER. Dean is about turning everyone into leaders.

2. I don't know that it means a Dean/Graham ticket is inevitable... |
|
...but it's certainly good news for the Dean campaign.

I like Graham and all but he's a little old for a VP slot. Also, I just don't think he had that much charisma. Dean/Clark, Clark/Dean.

20. Let me be more precise |
|
He's not "too old". It's just that, as the VEEP is supposed to step in if something happens to the pres, I think a youthful, vigorous, VEEP is a good image. Cheney is older too but he seems to have more energy than Graham. Clark or Edwards would be fine.

|
BUT I'M AFRAID THAT'S WHAT'S SHAPING UP. AND I DON'T SAY THAT JUST BECAUSE OF THIS NEWS. I'VE BEEN THINKING THIS EVER SINCE GRAHAM ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT.

I'd much rather see Graham as VP than Clark... don't let CLark anywhere near the Dean administration.

4. I think she just likes Dean. |
|
There is a lot of support for Dean in Florida. I had heard this from someone, that she might do this. I don't think it means anything. However, I do love Graham.
Graham did a great job on the Senate floor yesterday explaining the horrible parts of the Medicare bill.

12. Two reasons (At least) |
|
Edited on Mon Nov-24-03 01:01 PM by khephra
1 -- He didn't vote for the IWR because he thought it was wrong--he thought it was too limited.
2-- I watched his campaigning style. I don't think he's that good of a campaigner out of FL where his style works.
I really like the guy, but except for FL, I just don't think he brings much to a Dean ticket. I'd be very, very happy with him in Dean's administration though.

16. I'd be happy with a Dean/Graham ticket |
|
Graham at the bottom of the ticket won't come close to guaranteeing a Florida win, but it gives us an okay shot (if only Gore had picked him ... )
Graham's a good man, votes correctly on most issues, and his Iraq stance made sense to me (go after real terrorists rather than being distracted by Iraq).
He's in his mid-60s, I think, and probably won't be able to run for president in 2012, but that's okay with me. President Dean can have a different running mate for his 2008 re-election (maybe a woman, Black or Hispanic).
I'd also be happy with a Dean/Clark ticket or a Dean/Richardson ticket. I'd be happy with a number of people.

17. Yeah, I'd be happy with it too, as I think he's a good man |
|
There's just more than a few people that I think would make a better ticket. But I could learn to love it real quickly.

13. Graham would be one of my leading choices for VP |
|
on a Dean ticket. They compliment one another on Iraq and Graham was especially tough on Bush on security issues. He comes from a key state we would like to win (and he is not running for re-election), and he has strong credentials from his years in Washington and yet, like Dean, is a ex-governor.

Graham is wonderful and his endorsement would be a great boost for Dean. Although my preference at the moment (should Dean get the nomination) would be a Dean/Clark ticket, I think a Dean/Graham one would be just as spectacular.

into politics, and this seems like a great introduction for a young attorney interested in politics. She speaks very well. I look forward to seeing her in the future.
