1. daschle manoeuver? What did he do?
I'm so disgusted with him. Did he do something good for a change?

2. i just tuned back into cspan2
they are debating extending unemployment comp. before leaving for the holidays.
HRC was trying to get it passed.

Ensign (RNeb) is saying the usual Repug crap: economy will be better by yr's end. It's easier to stay on unemployment and collect rather than find jobs (compares to welfare reform)
blah blah, not cruel and heartless.

Clinton back up.

3. yup, it's not over yet, not officially.
The bill has not passed yet... hard to see how they could get 50 votes though...

4. So, I thought after losing the procedural vote....
and the vote on cloture, that that meant they would immediately vote on the bill? Apparently not... Can anyone explain or even theorize what is going on and what, if any might be any lingering grounds for hope?

5. Not sure....

technically they can talk for up to 30 hrs, under the cloture rules... It is always possible for some Senator to change his/her mind... But, if they just plan to talk I doubt anything will change... The 61/39 is as good as it gets... At least the energy bill seems dead for now...
